Feedback: Raid Size

Imho, 20 man raids are just too large and unwieldy. Thinking back across my gaming career, the most fun I’ve ever had in wow was in the 10 man raid format.

I think it would behoove us to have 10 man top level raids brought back. A bit more elbow grease on the balance, but it would open up a world of possibility to to those of us who have opted out of participation because of the current state of mythic.

Edit: changed the wording to avoid pedantic arguments.

I feel like the mythic lockout is more serious than the 20 man requirement.

They should add 10 man mega dungeons with m+ scaling. And 10 man 1-2 boss raid dungeons (like onyxia) with m+ scaling.

1 tank 2 healers 7 dps.

Brought back? They’ve never existed.

And those non-mythic 10 man raids were always horrible too because they were always designed for bigger raid sizes.

Most fights are still that way today, too.

i loved 10 man heroic/mythic from back in the days. good times, i hope they bring those back sometime

could have both
:cherries:

Larger raid sizes are a lot of fun when the goal is to have a feeling of “zerg mentality”. Like out door raid bosess/giant world events just throw armies of players at it.

Co-ordinated group skill checks, yeah I have had the most fun in 10 man doing those old meta achievements for mounts. Where everyones contribution is noticeable and you really need to plan out the group utility (but its not overly logistically prohibitive).

Nobody likes a pedant.

It was a pretty significant error. Glad I was able to help.

I think the largest group size should be three.

20 man allows for every class to have at least 1 spec in the raid. Reducing to 10 halves that and will lead to class stacking.
The bigger issue is mythic lockout which i think should be in place till HoF fill then removed.

Personally, I don’t really care about having each spec in the raid, or class stacking or anything else with regards to rankings or races - I just want to push higher difficulties of content with my friends. Right now, Mythic raid might as well not exist for a LOT of players - it’s almost like it’s an entirely different game mode, like tournament servers.

The barrier to doing Mythic raid is not skill, it’s the pain of managing a 20-man roster and finding (and retaining) the extra 5-10 players so we can event attempt the content. I don’t know about you, but adding 7 randos really changes the experience, and good look seeing them reliably week to week. Adding 7 regulars is likely challenging because they have to be compatible with your group and that takes time… unless you treat your raid group like a job, and “keep it professional”… except this is a game, and I just want to enjoy it. Sigh.

If we’re concerned about RWF and the sanctity of the Hall of Fame, limit eligibility for those prestige achievements to the full 20. Just let the rest of us play too.

I’m okay with the fights being harder (or easier) because it’s a smaller group. I just want to have fun progging challenging raid content with my friends. Right now, that ends with AotC for the vast majority of players, and it feels like AoTC has never been easier to achieve.

Its not that hard to get a 20-25 man roster. Guildsofwow, raiderio, wow recruitment discord, etc etc. Think of it this way your 8 friends could turn to 20+ friends.

And again 20 allows for each class to have rep in mythic(normally) you got m+ you can push for smaller groups

I truly want 40 man raids back, however due to Blizzards weird choices over the years I do not think it is even currently possible, so I just need to hope and dream

A bit more elbow grease on the balance, but it would open up a world of possibilities

And destroy a lot of mythic guilds.

I can’t fathom how bad the performance would be.

It wasn’t bad in Vanilla, don’t expect it to be bad now.

I miss raids that were just one boss.

I feel like they intentionally make everything a slog now.
