Feedback on the HUD Edit Mode

So I’ve mentioned before, but the new UI is honestly fantastic. Right “out-of-the-box” it’s great, but obviously being able to fine-tune it to your liking is a massive benefit, as well.

However, while I’ve no doubt it will continue to improve, I definitely wanted to get some of my own feedback out there, in hopes it might help make this feature even better.

In no particular order:

  • The “Grid Snap” doesn’t do enough to align elements. I feel like I’m still battling to have pixel-perfect alignment.

  • I’d love an option to have elements “snap” together, instead of directly overlapping. The Stance-bar or Pet-bar are great examples, as I’d like them to rest neatly above my action bars, without having to keep worrying about whether or not they’re overlapping slightly or not.

  • I’d HIGHLY suggest adding some little “arrows” when you click on a UI element, so you CAN get that pixel-perfect precision.

  • Additionally, a button to “Center” an element since, again, it’s hard to tell if you’re truly centered, or if you’re offset by a few pixels.

  • Perhaps an option to “mirror” another element, so they’ll both move with each other, relative to one another, but on opposing sides of the screen? You’d maybe have a button like “Mirror”, then you click the other element you want to connect it to? Maybe unnecessary.

  • PLEASE, for the LOVE OF GOD, give us the ability to move or enlarge the Enemy Cast Bar!!! I’m personally really bad about missing those, and it was the main benefit I personally got from ElvUI, maybe able to have a nice, big ol’ chonky bar so I never missed if an enemy was casting something. And ideally, they’d be a little more obviously color-coordinated; grey is unpreventable, yellow preventable, green is prevented, red is a finished cast (since “green is good” and “red is bad”).

  • The new Minimap looks great, but I don’t really like how the “Header” looks. It looks a little TOO “modern”. I’d personally like to have the LOCATION maybe look kinda like a scroll/parchment-background, maybe a tiny little clock or hourglass you can hover over for the time, and return to a spyglass for the “tracking” options. Doing so, I’d probably have the “Header” underneath the minimap itself, as well.

  • Also, I’d like to be able to hide all of the Covenant/Class Hall/Garrison elements from the Minimap. It just looks SO freaking nice and clean, the extra icons kind of kill the look, IMO.

  • Oh, and you should probably be able to enable/disable the extra Action-bars from this screen, as well.

  • I feel like the Chat-window is a bit busy-looking now. I personally would like to hide ALL of the icons, the ONLY tabs being General and Combat Log, and maybe have the chat-options icon only appear when actively typing or something?

Beyond that, I would honestly really dig something like a “Build from scratch” option, where EVERYTHING is placed in the dead center of the screen, where you can just place one element at time. I’m someone who really values neat, tidy organization, and it’s always a bummer when you miss seeing where certain UI elements would be.

Oh also;

Not entirely related, but if you choose to combine all of your bags into a single inventory, when you Auto-sort your inventory it should TREAT it as a single bag. Seems weird to have them all split-up based on the “slots” of each individual bag.

Also, for the PVP Talents, I’d personally like to see those arranged alphabetically. Also, maybe the ability to just remove them entirely?
