Oddly, I was able to get in a few hours ago, but now for the last 30 min I can’t get passed the battlenet launcher

A couple amd and apple silicon users i think had unrelated issue with bnet failing to openapp entirely as opposed to app opening and crashing. unless you have a crash report or freeze, i’d suggest moving those to a new thread if they haven’t already self resolved by now. especially if it was working previously on 14.0 prior to today.

Mac Studio M1 Ultra. Every time I log on a toon it crashes on the PTR 10.2 . Retail has been no issues. Both toons at the moment are in Waking Shores. Running Sonoma 14.0

Not same issue. 10.2 ptr doesn’t work correctly for anyone on mac. it’s unrelated to 14.0 or anything else. for the PTR issue I suggest referring to 10.2 PTR Fps - #7 by Rumncoke-lightbringer

Retail and classic both crash after about 10 mins of playing. Worked great before Sonoma 14 update. I have a 2021 16 inch Macbook Pro, M1 Pro chip, 16gb memory.

As of today my issue is presenting slightly differently - on Wrath Classic I am now reaching the “Connecting” message before the crash. On Classic Era, there is still no “Connecting” message but the login screen appears (in a frozen state) much longer before crashing. I even was able to get all the way through to the Character Select Screen on one attempt, but have not been able to reproduce in several tries since.

Edit: Got through again and even able to login, seems like a ~5-10% success rate.

My guess would be something in the coding of the launch of the game is not properly working … The rest of the games are working perfectly on Battle.net so My guess its something to do with the FPS and GPU updating while its loading that makes the screen crash like when you take your mouse and fling it around in game and sometimes you crash from the FPS lag because your GPU can’t process how fast the information is being uploaded to the Internet and being downloaded to the world of warcraft server

I still suspect this is a different issue. I’d like to see that crash report if you can post it.

apple silicon crashing 10 min in is not same issue as all the intel gpus that crash pretty much immediately at launch. also one apple silicon report is an outlier when rest of apple silicon users are not getting an issue.

How long ago was 14.0 update done? it could still be running background tasks and running hot. that and apples default fan curve I can see it just being a post update thermal crash.

Updated my mac to Sonoma last night. For over an hour today I was getting the crash, but now suddenly it’s worked.

Already had a few crash reports sent to blizzard but either way here are my details:

MacbookPro 13-inch, 2020. 2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5. Intel Iris Plus.

@flap, def a diff issue than this thread. I researched it and that panic is actually related to trying to do other things on computer while it’s still busy doing post update background processes, in this case something to do with photos. it’s kinda what I suspected. you fired up wow, while the cpu was already bogged down by post update stuffs, computer got oerwhelmed and crashed.

Many users report diff causes. icloud photo facial sync. spotlight indexing, etc but it’s always the same. Opening an app like wow, while OS is busy doing something else and the watchdog panic happens. figure out what’s running in background, and let it or help it finish. One user with watchdog panic had noticed spotlight was getting hung up indexing a large backup volume that quite frankly didn’t need to be indexed, they disabled indexing on that volume so spotlight would finish, then no more watchdog panics if they tried to fire up a game or whatever.

Feel free to look at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/constant-kernel-panics-userspace-watchdog-timeout-no-successful-checkins-from-com-apple-windowserver.2222878/page-47 to see a MILLION different causes but honestly i think it’s all the same cause. macOS is busy, and then told to do something else demanding and watchdog panics.

BTW for everyone else in thread, this is OFF topic, not related to crashes with intel gpus and macOS 14.0 in wow. this is to flaps kernel panic
