The War Within Season 2 dungeon continues on PTR today. The test period starts on Tuesday January 14th at 10:00 PST (13:00 EDT, 20:00 CEST), and ends Tuesday January 21st at 10:00 PST (13:00 EDT, 20:00 CEST). Please note that the test period may be adjusted in the event of technical difficulties.
This week testing is focused on the Season 2 War Within dungeons:
Priory of the Sacred Flame
Darkflame Cleft
Cinderbrew Meadery
The Rookery
We’ve recently been focused on making adjustments to two parts of the Mythic+ experience in Season 2 of The War Within.
First, we’d like to slow the pace of combat to allow for more coordination when groups are faced with dangerous casters. We’ve generally increased the cast times of more dangerous spells and removed, simplified, or slowed the casts of others.
Secondly, we’ve been reviewing the frequency of ‘tank buster’ mechanics throughout our dungeons. We’d like to generally reserve this gameplay for more dangerous creatures and dungeon bosses, so we’ve removed some instances of tank damage that we felt were inappropriate.
This week’s test will showcase some of these changes, but we’ll continue reviewing data and listening to feedback over the course of PTR.

want to SLOW the pace of combat? that’s a great step, now make the MDI E-sports garbage play on LIVE servers and stop making the dungeons easier for them just to boost your numbers. People that watch that crap think that’s just how easy it is and think that’s how it should be done in live gaming… Just 2 cents that I know will get flamed by the blue lovers support group.
Sounds great, but feels at odds with the timed mechanic of M+. I don’t know how to reconcile ‘taking your time’ and ‘coordinated’ with the rushed nature of M+ that’s emerged.
Mythic Plus should not be slow. Delves. Are for people that want slow. I believe there should be pulls that are possible to do super large, maybe not every mob in a dungeon but large pulls are fun! Small pulls are far less enjoyable. We have bosses for “small pulls” as in single target. Maybe if DPS could take talents that are good for both single target and AOE then smaller pulls wouldn’t feel so bad. (I’m a healer main, and even I don’t like small pulls. I don’t do any meaningful single target damage, and there often isn’t anything to heal either - and there shouldn’t be one single target/small pulls, don’t misunderstand what I’m saying: " allow for more larger pulls, allow for DPS to do meaningful single target DMG AND AOE DMG"
Unless the default radius is significantly larger, this needs either nerfed more or the tank needs a perma small radius candle on them.
This was already the most difficult dungeon during leveling and on heroic, on heroic the minecart event is oddly more difficult than a lot of <5 keystone dungeons. When the small guys chain pop their explosion circles, it does a ton of damage, if tanks try to kite out of the light they get a DR and they don’t die, if some tanks who rely on higher self healing and self sustain walk out of the circle they get their self healing effectively removed.
Please for the love of god just put a perma candle on the tank, the event already requires the mine cart to reach the end already to proceed to the next boss.
Reverting the stop / instant recast change would immediately fix this issue.
This right here. I don’t care about anything else in S2 tuning (except maybe the Darkflame cleft cart event). Reverting this change would go so far to help with pug groups. Nothing feels worse than missing an important kick because someone sent an AoE stun or an Aug sends an Upheaval in their rotation. Now the ability just recasts again and the interrupt is on CD. feelsbadman
