Reiterating something I wrote in Peak of Serenity regarding a few bugfixes surrounding Mistweaver, specifically around Ancient Teachings bugs that will be in the game starting with Pre-Patch and continuing through Midnight if left untouched:

it is, frustratingly, a reversion of an undocumented hotfix that we got some time around undermine - ancient teachings ignoring armor when it transfers the damage → healing.

for example, rsk should hit for 100k but only deals 70k damage (30% as a regular base for armor reductions for physical abilities) however ancient teachings prior to undermine was doing the conversion on 70k rather than 100k. it was hotfixed and found at some point in march that AT was doing more than we expected because of the hotfix and was now converting on 100k. this kinda went against all of what, historically, damage → heal conversions did for physical abilities - awakened jadefire (now way of the crane), dream of cenarius, courage of the white tiger, etc, still healed on the post-armor damage and AT was the only one to get the hotfix.

implementing modules for wowanalyzer for midnight led me to find that ancient teachings was no longer doing the conversion pre-armor and all calced values were nearly exact (+ heal amps on the target) as the real output. thought it was just a beta bug and so i wanted to double check on live that we were still getting healing on pre-armor values aaanndddd the same thing appeared - AT is calcing post-armor healing even though we confirmed at the beginning of the year that that had been hotfixed.

lo and behold, we’re at a state where:

• ancient teachings has been inadvertently nerfed at some point from undermine to live by 30% since it now, once again, heals on post-armor values
• we were supposed to receive a 20% damage buff along all healers and never got it
• jadefire + ancient teachings was nerfed by almost exactly 20% seemingly to account for the 20% damage buff we were supposed to receive

in addition to several other bugs existing under ancient teachings (randomly dropping to 25% mid dungeon, jade empowerment not reducing effectiveness on chains (fixed as of jan 14), jadefire stomp not transfering healing), this leaves ancient teachings in an incredibly broken state going into midnight

Something must be looked at here as this severely brings down the effectiveness of the ability and causes Rushing Wind Kick’s 5-man capped heal to outheal Ancient Teachings (different healing profiles and methods of applying the healing) and Nature-classed spells like Crackling Jade Lightning to shine stronger in comparison against our Phys abilities, which is surely not the intended outcome.

All healers had a 20% increase to their damage dealt this week. We are monitoring the rate at which they can complete content while solo and felt that a boost to their offensive throughput would be appropriate.

This is also to note that, even though we received a ~20% compensatory nerf to Ancient Teachings/Jadefire Teachings to account for the 20% damage buff that we did not receive since November 11th, Way of the Crane was left untouched and is doing more healing in proportion to Ancient Teachings than live currently is. Which, again, I am doubtful is the intended outcome.

In a similar vein (although the very least of priorities, pls fix other stuff for Midnight Mistweaver first), our new tier set for prepatch with 16% increased healing has 0 affect on Ancient Teachings, a core part of Mistweaver’s toolkit in dungeons, as the conversion is solely based on the damage you deal.
