(Feedback): [Mecha-Done] Achievement

(Statement): Today, Unit Exacitor acquired the Vinyl: Triumph of Gnomeregan, and was able to complete [Mecha-Done].

(Commentary): I felt nothing. An empty, hollow feeling. I gave up on ever getting this months ago. I only kept up killing Steel Singer Freza and doing the Rec Rigs because waiting hours for spawns gave me windows to watch TV or Youtube video. I thought if the Vinyl ever dropped I’d feel elated, happy, a rush of joy like winning the lottery or something. Instead, I felt absolutely nothing. Maybe a vague regret that I no longer had an excuse to log in and do nothing but wait for spawns every day.

(Conclusion): This was not, “Fun.” There was no joy to be had in this, ‘Achievement,’ nor can I take pride in it. I gave up and checked out so long ago it became meaningless to me. The Mechacycle Model-W I wanted so badly for so long has simply become another mount to me.

(Commentary): My suggestion is to either change the achievement to not require certain drops (Triumph of Gnomeregan, Emergency Rocket Chicken plans, etc…) or to add all Meta-Achievement related drops to the Rustbolt Supplies with bad luck protection to significantly increase drop chances each time the supplies fail to yield them. Right now this achievement takes too long.

(Statement): It. Is. Not. Fun.

Agreed.

Mechagon seems like it was designed to be on the lighter more whimsical side of the game. A sandbox that was more just for fun. But adding obscene amounts of RNG into the achievements makes it not fun.

There was a lot easier way to get that vinyl, but congrats on finishing.

Should’ve had an “Illicit Vinyl Trader Man Guy” that you could purchase any of the Vinyls you needed with spare parts. As a pseudo failsafe incase you get borked with the worst RNG but still are a dedicated ally of the robo gnomes.

(Commentary): Do share, for any of the people still working on it. The only sources I know of are Freza or the Rec Rig.

I’ve got the Vinyl like 5 or 6 times? Missing a few other things but at the end of the day RNG is RNG.

Can feel bad getting bad luck over and over and over again (Curse you, Court!) but I wouldn’t remove RNG from any of the achievements, especially the ones that are suppose to be big and grand.

My apologies, was thinking of the Battle one, not the Triumph.

lisen 2 the roomba , he not lie

I think i’m just missing the epic thingy you loot from the chests, i pop out there once a week, loot a single chest and hearth.

Don’t you love the content access windows? You know showing up to the zone and finding out that nothing you want to do that day will be available because of reasons? Sure do love having that design of gameplay along with respawn times AND low drop chances. Really gets me invested in the game.

Have the 2 mounts, mecha-done and the 3 rank 4s. No reason to show up besides pets/fish achievements and all the stuff in the dungeon. Never setting foot on that island again.

My feedback on Mecha-Done is that Mecha-Done can eat a sack of… what won’t get me banned… hmm… a sack of used kitty litter pulled out of a rubbish skip. Not nearly what I want to say but maybe it gets the point across.

An achievement that is RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG is not fun, Blizzard. An achievement with a clear path we can work toward, that can be completed with a set amount of work, even if it takes months, is fun, or at least more fun than this unholy slog.

I got Mecha-Done last month. Last month. 8.2 came out over a year ago. Most of that hold up was two things: a record Steelsinger refused to drop and that GD rocket chicken blueprint that a, refused to drop b, was rarely up, and c, eventually everyone just stopped doing. Can you point to where the fun is trying to for the better part of a year to get the last two drops for an achievement, especially when it seems everyone else got it done months before?

Don’t do this again, Blizzard.

Oh no no no you are aware they are designing the Maw to be like Mechagon? That is once they flesh it out from the barren hell it is now.

I feel your pain. Same for me. It took me months to get Triumph of Gnomeregan.

MONTHS!!!

Everything I liked about the zone evaporated due to all the unnecessary grinding.

Same for Nazjatar and that freaking Rockweed shambler!!! ARG!!! I get angry just thinking about it.

Also mechagon sucked for alliance because you had to farm to get a teleport to the island while horde had a direct teleport to the zone. The two horde points on Kul tiras have a shorter crow’s flight to mechagon than Alliance does, if ally were to fly. Thus for ally I have was essentially setup to set my hearthstone at rustbolt and build it as the beginning and then end of my daily schedule, to minimize hs cd.

I don’t have a problem with an achievement like Mecha-Done requiring some patience and work to obtain.

That’s the whole point of the zone-wide achievements in places like Nazjatar and Mechagon. Nobody needs to do them, and for some players it won’t be worth it, but the reward is nice enough that it can be worth it to some players.

Complaining about an essence grind makes sense because that impacts performance in instanced content, but something Mecha-Done is entirely optional, and it exists for players who want to go the extra mile in a particular zone.

It is an issue. Mecha-done required gross amounts of effort over nazjatar. Even if you include the bag achievement. Plenty of people finished alot of stuff in nazjatar early on. Only having to wait for puzzles, period and lucid r4 achievement. Meanwhile you could do the same in mechagon and show up on the same days as others but your shard would already have that thing dead or in a long respawn.

That’s not even counting the nonsensical repeating drill rigs that would burn through resources. And get harder to do because fewer people would go to the zone to fund parts for it and rec rig.

I didn’t think that there was anything outlandish about either one.

The whole point is that you won’t get the achievement just by showing up and doing the basics.

I’ve seen a couple of these threads, and I have no idea how players are taking so long for Mecha-Done. Either they are not taking advantage of the drop sources consistently, or they are getting incredibly unlucky.

It does take time, but roughly the same as Naz, tbh, which is to say about 3 months approximately. Doing the follower dailies in Naz took 3 months.

Think of it as the world content version of going for AotC or Keymaster in a particular season. It’s a bit more than casual.

(Commentary): The Blueprints for the Emergency Rocket Chicken has a 10% chance of dropping off of a rare spawn that ONLY spawns on a day with a specific daily NPC in the zone (having spent months trying to get this, he seems to spawn once every 10 days). Then they had to feed parts to broken chickens and get at least three, possibly more, to return to Rustbolt, when they could also self destruct, follow you as guardians, or just put a battle pet in your inventory. THEN the Fleetfoot mob would spawn; super fast, HP sponge that runs all over the place. Even hitting it with slow, it moves faster than you on foot. You need to kill it, so you’ll be in combat until it outpaces you. The only way to consistently deal damage is to stun it. It also despawns after a while. So, you have to kill this before it despawns. THEN the rare spawn that has a 10% chance of dropping the blueprints finally spawns.

(Commentary): Let that sink in. Once every 10 days or so you have to force spawn a rare mob that is a pain in the butt to kill to spawn another rare mob that has a measly 10% chance to drop a blueprint.

(Commentary): Despite the absurdity, most people get that blueprint before the Vinyl: Triumph of Gnomeregan. That Vinyl has 2-3 sources you can farm each day, but it’s drop rate is so absurdly, ridiculously low, that there are people who have been farming every day since 8.2 launched and still don’t have it, because RNG is RNG.

I know how it works, I have the achievement.

Summoning the chicken is a non-issue, and the droprate on that plan is pretty decent. You don’t want to miss the quest spawning, sure, but that’s not really any different from the puzzles in Nazjatar. Again, the point is that you have to go a bit beyond what most players will be doing in the zone.

The few players I have seen complaining about the Vinyls not dropping for absurd amounts of time are clearly not making use of all the sources consistently, the reclamation rig being the main one for Triumph.
