Feedback: Hunters

You mean they chose to do this before and are choosing to do the mistake again?

Well…welll…okay…

Blizz, seriously, listen, no really, seriously, people are trying to help you:

You are listening to the wrong focus/feedback group regarding this.

Undo the bad Hunter pet decision (again). Again…again? Yes, again.

Holy moly lol.

this was nearly 10 years ago, things change and should change

anywho

It’s an RP ability for some random animal that means nothing to us. It could just as easily be a toy usable by any class.

Or even by BM, who, as masters of beasts, would be the kind to really teach animals tricks like that.

Or, and hear me out, maybe this feedback which should be in a thread about idle animations or as a toy or something instead of the hunter rework, as it has nothing to do with the way the spec plays.

Additionally, while I admittedly like this little RP idea, how about this instead: let hunters keep our pets and if you want to tame an eagle and have a toy or something that gives you that idle pose for your RP purposes, excellent.

But not at the expense of my lynx, thank you.

hello, i have alot of feedback ready to go but im waiting until this weeks ptr update until i post since frankly alot of it could be solved already. what i will do is post a list of bugs that werent mentioned here but listed in the trueshotlodge hunter discord

i just hope this doesnt get flooded or covered because this is important

  • Aspect of the Hydra (AotH) has a 100ms ICD that causes AotH abilities queue'd after a prior AotH abiility that should reasonably benefit from the talent to not generate a secondary attack.
  • AotH will not strike targets adjacent to the primary target if they are just out of range, despite the fact the similar effects, such as Trick Shots, will.
  • AotH will strike the primary target if no secondary target is present
  • Spotter's Mark states that "Damaging an enemy with abilities empowered by Precise Shots has a 30% chance to apply Spotter's Mark", however Precise Shots empowered Multi-Shots and AotH Arcane Shots only apply Spotter's Mark to the primary target.
  • The 15% damage bonus from Quick Draw will apply to a mid-cast Aimed Shot when LnL procs
  • MM gains triple value from Trigger Finger instead of double
  • The buff from Ohn'ahran Winds applies an alternate version of Spotter's Mark that gives a 20% higher bonus and restores 20 focus on consumption
  • Attack speed buffs such as Trigger Finger and % Haste buffs such as Bloodlust reduce the value of In the Rhythm (ITR) and the 11.1 2pc tier set buff
  • Tensile Bowstring is not increasing the effectiveness of Streamline by 50%
  • The 11.1 2pc tier set buff does not trigger on Trueshot activation
  • Kill Shot/Black Arrow do not appear to properly proc Spotter's Mark when talented into Headshot
  • The 200% damage from the 11.1 4pc tier bonus only applies to the main target
  • When a LnL proc is comsumed with the 11.1 4pc bonus on a target with a pre-existing Explosive Shot debuff (this includes multiple targets affected by Explosive Shot from Salvo), it appears that all, some, or none of the target Explosive Shots can be affected by the 25% damage bonus from the Precision Detonation talent, with no apparent rhyme or reason.

sentinel bugs

  • Sentinel can immediately apply to mobs without casting any abilities
  • Sentinel debuff persists between arena rounds
  • Sentinel DoT is able to tick multiple times per second

dark ranger bugs

  • Black Arrow was inadvertently buffed by 30% instead of 15%
  • Black Arrow primary damage is benefitting from Unnatural Causes, twice. Note: 10% of this damage is reflected in the tooltip and the 10% is not
  • The current implementation of the Razor Fragements talent interacts very poorly with the Dark Ranger toolkit
  • Withering Fire procs fire off an inconsistent number of Black Arrows depending on targets that are within range but out of LoS
  • On three or more targets, secondary Black Arrows from Withering Fire procs will often hit the same target instead of selecting targets without the Black Arrow DoT
  • Shadow Hounds appears to be proccing extremely rarely
  • Phantom Pain activates its effect regardless of whether the target of Aimed Shot is affected by the Black Arrow DoT
  • Embrace the Shadows does not heal the hunter from Dark Hound or Authority of the Depths damage dealt.

survival hunter

  • Pets benefit twice from Dwarf and Tauren Racials
  • Unnatural Causes not increasing all DoT damage
  • Tranquilizing Shot cannot hit the Xal'atath orb affix
  • When casting Bombardier Explosive Shot, Tip of the Spear does not always buff all 3 Explosive Shots.
  • With Bombardier active, casting the Bombardier Explosive Shot has a very large range and can fire the extra Explosive Shots at mobs that are not in combat and pull them.
  • When casting Flanking Strike from ranged with at least 1 stack of Tip of the Spear, it will consume/generate Tip incorrectly. With 1 stack, you will go up to 2 stacks and then back down to 1 stack, leaving you with a net of 0 and you "losing" 1 stack.
  • Harpoon was partially fixed on most enemies. On large mobs/bosses that cannot move, such as the final boss of Rookery, it pulls you to the center of the mob and kills you.
  • Spearhead does not increase the critical strike chance or critical strike damage (Deadly Duo) of Kill Command. The Kill Command damage spellid (259277) is missing from the whitelist of spells modified by Spearhead.
  • Kill Command's tooltip does not get increased from Spirit Bond.
  • Outland Venom is not increasing the critical strike damage of: Kill Command, Flanking Strike (pet portion), auto attacks.
  • The Kill Shots fired with Sic 'Em can hit targets that are not in combat.
  • Spirit Bond (mastery) is not increasing the damage of hunter auto attacks or pet auto attacks.
  • When casting Flanking Strike with Merciless Blow talented, the Merciless Blow dot does not get applied to the target.
  • Born to Kill does not increase the duration of Cull the Herd by 2s.
  • Frenzy Strikes is appropriately buffing the player portion of Flanking Strike by 15% but is buffing the pet portion by nearly 150%.
  • Cull the Herd does not buff the damage of any bleeds (Merciless Blow, Spearhead, Rend Flesh, or the Kill Command Bloodseeker bleed).

packleader

  • Pack Leader bear dot (Rend Flesh) cannot critically strike
  • Pack Leader bear dot (Rend Flesh) is not increased by Unnatural Causes
  • Pack Leader bear dot (Rend Flesh) is not increased by Cull the Herd
  • Slicked Shoes always gives cooldown reduction to Disengage
  • Ursine Fury does not give cooldown reduction to Flanking Strike
  • Having two of the same pet active will cause the 2nd to despawn when the 1st despawns
  • Wyvern does not properly extend
  • Bear melees are not increased by Lead from the Front
  • Howl of the Pack Leader expiring and "ready" beasts

sentinel

  • Sentinel can immediately apply to mobs without casting any abilities
  • Sentinel debuff persists between arena rounds
  • Sentinel is able to tick multiple times per second
  • Sentinel Watch does not always grant CDR

beast mastery

  • Dire Cleave will Cleave for 100% of melee attacks if Beast Cleave is not talented.
  • Venomous Bite doesn't get added entirely on the Bloodshed tooltip.
  • Solitary Companion is supposed to increase your main pet damage by 35%. Kill Command has its damage increased by 100% for some reason.
  • The Season 2 Tier Set is largely not functional, to summarize:The free Barbed Shot does not deal 200% damage.Casting Bestial Wrath does not trigger a Jackpot! proc at the moment.Bestial Wrath cooldown reduction does not function.

dark ranger

  • Beast Cleave from Shadow Hounds will do Physical rather than shadow damage. This makes it not benefit from Embrace the shadows and does less overall damage due to armor
  • Shadow Hounds proc less than they're supposed to.
  • Embrace the Shadows does not heal the hunter from Dark Hound damage dealt.
  • Within the 11.1 development notes -

“Withering Fire now triggers from casting Black Arrow during Bestial Wrath and no longer auto-fires Black Arrow instead of gaining Deathblow.”

  • This has not been updated aside from not making Black Arrow not Auto-fire.
  • Withering Fire Stacks reset after dungeon boss combat.

packleader

  • Slicked Shoes always gives cooldown reduction to Disengage
  • The Bear does not gain increased duration from Dire Frenzy
  • Bear melees are not increased by Lead from the Front
  • Snakeskin Quiver does not consume Hogstrider buff stacks but does benefit from it
  • Pig visual will occasionally bug out
  • Spawning two of the same pet back to back will cause the second one to be partially muched.
  • Pig will Hit the main target with the cleave effect.

here is the link btw, ive only posted it on the forums directly cause people do not like clicking links

This is the third time they’re doing this.

First was Legion. Second was BFA. And now here’s the third attempt.

Mind blowing, Watermist. Just mind blowing.

Well, here’s to hoping Blizz gets it head on straight re: this.

I think they will.

They said they are trying to listen to the players more. And, well, we’ll see what happens.

It is kinda crazy though. Just, like what?

/shrug, maybe they need to have a sit down with the dev who really wants to this for some reason. Over a couple of beers, or a cup of coffee…something

Is that so?

Anywho, try having coherent ideas and conveying them better.

The fact that Blizzard never went through with it (ie: the fully petless Hunter design was NEVER implemented in Live) and yet the conundrum happened again and again shows how there’s a design problem with keeping both petless and pet.

So keep it petful intead of petless and let the intruders go play a mage since RP and aesthetics are so meaningless to them.

It’s updating

But some of the issue might be they took away the pet, and gave compensation on the damage front, yet always lacked on the defensives/self sustain/etc.

That’s a battle you already lost.

Then don’t worry about it.

That’s what people like you said in 2016 and 2018. It remains to be seen if we’ve truly lost since the change is still in testing.

Having a pet tank for you in the open should be an option. If yoi want mm to go petless for optimal dps for raids and dungeons, make the pet disappear in situations with a tank and the call pet unusable. But leave the pet available for solo play.

I worry because I think there are solutions to this, but people need to realize that those solutions need to not clash with the new design. They mean the pet becomes a niche mode for very limited purposes, like tanking mobs, and no effort to balance it in the DPS rotation will be done anymore.

Honestly it just blows my mind that this isn’t even the first time Blizzard has tried to completely remove the pet. I had forgotten about that after they removed melee weapons from all the specs, then turned Survival into a melee spec, and effectively deleted dual-wielding.

I don’t think the majority of hunter players ever wanted pure melee or petless builds.

I am sorry you feel that way, but direct attacks like this against criticism is petty. The person who wanted the RP effect for the eagle was also telling all of us pet people to shut up about our pets because their feedback was more important to them.

Besides, Rankin said it better than I could:
