Feedback: Hunters

Weren’t we just talking about how the animations are probably still placeholders at this point?

Pet supporters have absolutely no power in this situation, and the pet removal people get mad when the feedback isn’t focused on the other changes – as if they aren’t being catered to enough.

When spam is the only thing there is to eat, spam is what we’re eating.

There are not pet removal people. There are people freaking out and there are people not freaking out.

Making it more visually present wouldn’t address that it is disconnected from the player. They have no say in how what this new pet is, how it looks, or anything. There is no shared experience levelling, or moments of joy when your pet saves your life or prevents a wipe on a boss. It’s just… noise.

It’s much like I can’t just put a plate of gnocci in front of you, tell you its your favourite food and that you should enjoy it. It violates many key tenants of both story and player agency.

There very much are those who are delighting in pet removal. Which is ironic, since they are still stuck with a pet.

There are haves and have-nots.

There are certainly about to be.

It’s funny seeing people say they’re not anti-pet, but all they do is attack pro-pet people for wanting to keep pets as an option.

Not much of a feedback thread recently, just folks bickering about how “I’m right, you’re wrong and your opinion means nothing.”

Phase one was the claim that nobody has explained why your “proposed solutions” either don’t work or are counterintuitive to the point of reworking the spec. Phase two is the claim that such explanations are now personal attacks and conspiracy.

Can we skip phases 3-4 and just get to acceptance faster?

Phase 1 was nothing needs to change, as the status quo was forced upon us to satisfy people who picked the pet class despite not liking pets and if they had picked another class, we wouldn’t be in this mess.

Phase 2 was delete Lone Wolf and remove any expectation that a pet won’t be out, thus negating concerns about choosing between utility and damage.

Both of these options made the anti-pet people upset that they’re not getting the whole pie to themselves, so here we are.

Human nature doesn’t take kindly to theft.

Then get rid of Lone Wolf and give back the pets. Most of us never asked for Lone Wolf in the first place. When I first saw it 10 years ago, I thought it was a stupid talent, now they put it in the starter build to make it look popular because many people use starter build because they don’t feel like reading all the talents.

Lone Wolf evolved naturally into the best option, and it also gave Marksmanship more identity.

It was never designed to be “the better option”. It was actually competing with other talents (so it was Lone Wolf vs Pet + Another talent of the same row) and it still won.

When it became baseline, it was nerfed to the ground. And still won.

When talent trees were redone, its damage bonus was halved, and it became even possible to not choose it and get a talent point to invest elsewhere. And still won.

That’s just history, like it or not.

my feedback was as follows and it was

and ive been dogpiled by multiple users saying multiple negative things/

ofcourse im going to pout and cross my arms when my pointless but valid feedback gets such a reaction. what do you think other people who posted actual feedback feel when their posts gets absolutely dogpile and eclipsed by the same thing. it wasnt something to stop people from talking or dog on them, it was legit actual feedback that i felt would be cool and fun regarding the new rework since you have a bird following you around.

godforbid i have fun in a way thats not allowed by the hunter rp association from moonguard i guess

Are you tired of being told: ‘You should just play zookeeper, or bad rogue with a pet’

They should just play mage or boomkin…see we can do it too :man_shrugging:

But we don’t have a bird following us around. It just periodically shows up for a few seconds whenever we use specific abilities. Maybe it’s supposed to be more visible, but at the moment it’s just a glorified spell animation. Blizzard says they want it to be more like a “true pet” in the future, but that remains to be seen.

In the future, yes. But in it’s current form, it’s just a spell proc, not a pet, half pet, quarter pet ad-infinitem.

i mean yall are putting way to much thought into a rp ability thats made for fun

it can be a spell animation, but it has a 3d model according to internal files. like how ret doesnt use “prayer” as a offensive ability, but we still have a fun qbility that lets us kneel and “pray”

theres no harm for such a ability to exist if its part of mm’s new fantasy. plus it would be cool to stand idle with a bird resting on your outstretched arm for rp/fantasy reasons

You mean they chose to do this before and are choosing to do the mistake again?

Well…welll…okay…

Blizz, seriously, listen, no really, seriously, people are trying to help you:

You are listening to the wrong focus/feedback group regarding this.

Undo the bad Hunter pet decision (again). Again…again? Yes, again.

Holy moly lol.

this was nearly 10 years ago, things change and should change

anywho

It’s an RP ability for some random animal that means nothing to us. It could just as easily be a toy usable by any class.
