Feedback: Hunters

So,

Makes the important stuff of the rework pointless? making the pet not provide anything they are moving over to the hunter makes the rework pointless?

Maybe we are seeing the rework as reducing reliance on the pet for things so we can easily take or leave the pet, depending on what we need or want at the moment. I’ll be the first to admit, if I did not need a pet, aside from an “oh…” moment, I would not use one 90% of the time, and of the remaining 10%, at least 70% it would be kept by my side, only used to fetch loot.

I am getting it.

Correct, it is being replaced with this new Lone Wolf talent that functions to grant the utility to the hunter when they don’t have a pet summoned.

Why would you ever not have a pet summoned if your pet does damage?

Because I want a pet out. To handle open world/solo content where I’m chosing to AoE farm. Because I like the pokemon minigame but don’t really like BM. Because it’s Tarantuala Tuesday.

Why would you ever not have a pet summoned, though? There has to be some point to the talent existing. Is it gonna give you a damage buff? If so, you have invoked the problem that all of this work is currently being done to fix.

Because a pet out does less damage than not having a pet. You’re trading the surviability and stand off ability for damage.

To grant the no-pet playstyle that a vocal number of people also want.

the damage is the least important part of the spec - the issue is, and always has been, the need to summon a pet to primal wrath.

Which I think is silly in the first place. If other Hunters have to visit a stable master to change their pet’s specialization, then MM Hunters can do the same for their eagle.

These points were addressed in the announcement of the new spec, though. There is no point reworking the spec at all if your intention is to fix nothing and leave the same problems in place.

You can’t change a pet spec at a stable master. Or can you now?

Yes, there isnt.

But that one guy accused the other of lying when he said that this is what yall really meant

I didn’t catch that. That’s pretty cool.

I said there isnt a point in reworking, they only needed to put primal rage into the hunter in some way

Their intention is to force a pet onto a player, remove our solo capability and tell us to like it.

Except we have addressed the biggest pain point of all: you no longer need to summon your pet to Primal Rage or use MS. This removes one of the largest complaints people have over the spec. You can rework spotting mark to use your existing pet when it’s out, or the eagle otherwise.

I disagree - there are a lot of things this new spec does that are interesting, and I don’t want to discount the new keyword-esque rotation. It needs some refinement, but it’s not terrible outside of the removal of player choice.

As would any idea put forth by players

From the bottom up, the series of consolations you’re asking for amount to three left turns around a block instead of one right turn to get next door.

All of this utility: lust, ms, masters call, pet family buffs already exist on the pet. You have to recode pets to not do that stuff for marks hunter, and code in replacements specifically for marks hunter. You then have the identical pet that does basic stuff for the other two specs and then only auto attacks and growls for marks hunter.

Why would you do all of that when you could just remove lw and retune marks around it always using a pet? You don’t actually need to rework the spec at all.

Already done on the PTR, so nothing new needs to be coded for that. They would need to add a flag for “if pet active - disable” or similar, to make it work with existing pets.

Then, if pet out: those functions don’t work and only the pet command abilities work.
If pet dismissed, then only those functions work.

You can’t summon a pet at all as mm on the ptr. If you abuse the bug that allows you to load in with a pet, I’m pretty sure it still does regular pet stuff.
