Feedback: Epic Battlegrounds

Can we please just have Southshore vs Tarren Mill added to the existing list of epic battlegrounds?

I’m having a blast in there, I love me a long, non-stop teamfight :grin:

Farming alliance at their town and pushing them off the docks into the water, I just can’t get enough hehe

I find myself queing up for this one over and over even after the initial win, it’s addictive

I spent part of Monday night just spamming it over and over since I knew it would be going away on Tuesday.

I see no reason why this bg map can’t simply be added to the existing list of epic battlegrounds. The only changes I would make to it…

(1) The town guards need to be buffed (more health? more damage? both?). They are a joke and they barely protect the town / barely dissuade the opposing team from ignoring them and flooding in. They need to be given steroid buffs or something, I saw squishy clothies (Mages, Warlocks, Priests, etc) and leather wearers just face-tanking them without too many issues. For elites, the guards don’t seem very “threatening” at all.

(2) Consider increasing the win condition to like 200 kills or something.

(3) Consider increasing (or even just removing?) the time limit. Most games I was in went around ~20 minutes, which seems kind of short. Also with regards to the time limit thing, I was in a few games on Alliance side where we started out losing (badly), but then rallied and began to make a comeback (our points started to surge up) - however we simply “ran out of time” before we could catch up to the other team on the scoreboard. I guess what I’m saying is there would probably be more interesting/epic games if “time” was not as much of a factor.

What were your win rates playing horde vs. playing alliance? I found the brawl perhaps worse than it’s ever been. 25 alliance vs. 36 horde? Laughable. Every single one I played horde side was a win. Laughable.

It can stay a brawl. No need to give the horde 2 out of 3 easy-win maps in epic BGs.

OMG ty for this! Every Alliance group where we won the first team fight, some people actually said “stay behind the road” And when I said hell no, push into their hood, it was met with “but guards will destroy us” No lie, that was said quite a few times. Guards are nothing to be scared of!

In the close games the healers can’t drink, but in the stomps its not an issue.

I don’t know how AV is supposed to play out but literally everyone now just ignores the mid, ignores Galv/Balinda and rushes to the end, stands around waiting for towers to cap and then it’s a race to see who downs who first.

@ Blue(s): Any updates on the current epic forty player battlegrounds (aka bug fixes, quality of life improvements, etc…)?

A lot of us have been trying to send feedback / bug reports via the request from one of the Q&A’s where Ion Hazzikostas, and Josh Allen requested we send them in-game, etc… with as much detail as possible.

The sad part is when 30 plus players standing between 2 towers in enemy base will allow both towers to be defended and lose the game as a result. How can 30 people be unaware of this?

You are straight trolling people, Phalanx.

You want us to spend MORE time for zero rewards if we lose? You guys gotta start adding conquest points for BOTH sides - with more points going to the victors, but the losers not walking away empty handed (wasted time - makes you hate the game.)

there’s already a problem of people going afk in ebgs, giving conquest to both the winner and the loser would make this worse, people could just farm CP by afking in ebgs all day. every bg would be like 6 people pvping and 74 people afk in their tunnels.

i believe ebgs already have a way around this that still rewards effort: if you fight back hard and drop the enemy team below 100 resources before you lose you still get some CP.

then there is the fact that you already have participation awards and consolation prizes.

so, what’s the issue?

How about having a mix of tank, healer and damage. I was in AV last night without one tank and I checked both tank and damage as options as I usually do before a RBG. Two nights ago we had no healers and 3 tanks. I was selected for damage once again. Kind of hard to win without tanks or healers. Plus we go in with 4 short to start. We get down to Drek and can’t finish him like that.

When we have the spread of classes we have a chance in AV and IOC. Last night I was 0-7 and have been 2-13 the last two nights. We had 8 short in IOC once but usually just a couple while horde have the full numbers and spread of classes. I thought this would be computer generated.

I agree about more conquest points. My experience in RBGs is about 1/5 are wins. I am on a losing streak of 9 right now so it takes us a lot longer. As for the Brawl I love the idea but I was in 9 and won 2. I was with a guild or group of friends that pushed it. The others were massacres at our own dock. I even came in and was behind most of the enemy and one was over 100 to less than 10. We ended up with about 15. Another the group stopped rezzing and made Horde wait it out at 140+. This defeats the purpose.

It is pointless to make the EBG’s last longer cause what your doing is it will cause people to leave take a deserter or cause more afking.

1.) The losing side will just give up and just road kill turtle on the roads for hours and hours mindlessly or some will go somewhere put on auto run against a wall and tab out watch a youtube vid or something, Or just leave take a deserter debuff.

2.) No incentive for sticking it out when your losing. You could get at least half the amount of conquest of a win if you at least put in a effort to try and win.

Mr. dev person, it’s all snowy outside and I’m bored, put Southshore vs Tarren Mill back in the game please. It’s the perfect bg for gloomy days such as this.

There’s only 1 problem. Horde are assaulting the Alliance base gy and towers before the Alliance can even reach the Horde base - even if you make a straight charge without interruptions. Sadly (and I think this pretty much began in TBC), AV has become a race to the end. Horde are now at the point where they don’t even wait for tower caps to start on the boss.

You get full conquest for losing if you put in an effort to try and win.

I’ve also seen this - one tower seems doable now, despite creature scaling. I haven’t seen two or more marshals yet.

Easy solution is to either buff the marshal auras to 100% health and damage each, and upping base damage for them and the generals. Perhaps look at Vann’s AE too - it doesn’t scale as well as Drek’s Whirlwind (nature damage with low base values vs a scaling weapon damage)

Is this scaling still happening ? Based on the last few comments perhaps is no scaling as well as it could be

I’m pretty sure the scaling is still there, I’ve noticed Drek’s health has gone up and up as my Alliance toon has gotten more and more gear. He used to show as having like 16-17 million health, but now that I’ve gotten better gear his health shows as being between 20-22 million.

Seems to be working as intended.

Loving the new EBG (Wintergrasp - although a bit buggy at the moment), updates to the EBG resources / reinforcements UI counters, AV’s 50% reduction to ground troop summoning costs, and much more.

Keep up the good work Blizzard team! Anything I can do to help with reporting bugs, etc… please let me know. I’m pretty sure a lot of us would be happy to help.

  • Quick side request: Would there be any way to reduce the ram, and frost wolf AV quest turn ins to only 10 rams, or 10 wolfs? 15 for each animal type does not seem to fit within the reinforcement (top of the screen UI counter) time frame. I get to about 4, or 5 before the EBG is about to end. Which even if we had three people running rams, etc… we would still need the wolf hides from the Horde side; which is time added to the quest turn in.
