Feedback: Elune's Chosen in The War Within

Would be nice if it would make Lunar Beam similar to old consecration from Cata. A beam, around you that follow you. It would fix the movement issue. Not the rest but it would be quite a nice addition

would it be possible to make the hero talents more accommodating for players that do not enjoy taking the ā€˜new moonā€™ balance druid choice talent? Some of us prefer to take Fury of Elune you know!

Example:

Before: Boundless Moonlight:
Full Moon (Balance) calls down 2 Minor Moons that deal Astral damage and generate 3 Astral Power.

After: Boundless Moonlight:
Full Moon (Balance) and Fury of Elune (Balance) calls down 2 Minor Moons that deal Astral damage and generate 3 Astral Power.

???

The tree accommodates for both Full Moon and Fury of Elune. There isnā€™t a single talent where only Full Moon benefits. Where exactly are you seeing this issue?

In fact, there is a choice node in the middle row ā€œThe Light of Eluneā€ that only procs a Fury of Elune.

I am concerned that my resource generation will be not at the same level as a druid that is constantly using new moon, half moon, etc.

I also like calling down moons but donā€™t want to have to stand still to do that.

Ignoring the supporting talents in the Balance tree, you get a total of 12 AP from Minor Moons with Boundless Moonlight and The Eternal Moon, and 6 AP from the ā€œflash of energyā€ with The Eternal Moon.

While Full Moon technically generates more with these talents, you spend a lot of time casting New Moon, Half Moon and Full Moon, whereas Fury of Elune is instant which gives you free time to cast other abilities that generate AP.

And the Alpha/Beta will be a good time to figure out exactly where additional tuning needs to be done, if any.

Itā€™ll be fine.

Like Boomkinā€™s Starfall?

As a tank I really hate the stand in X ability play style of consecration/DnD; Iā€™ve been playing prot pally for a very long time and itā€™s always been a problem except when we had the glyph. Lunar Beam is more of that but less oppressive because itā€™s short duration compared to its CD and how little value it actually is as a talent; right now itā€™s so bad that no oneā€™s using it.

My one concern with this tree is weā€™re increasing its duration by near 40% and drastically reducing itā€™s CD while baking in a ton of power; leech, more mastery, and a lot more damage. If Lunar Beam doesnā€™t follow you itā€™s going to feel horrible to play with in M+ and even more so during weeks like Sanguine or on raid encounters with a lot of movement.

If Iā€™m supposed to be Eluneā€™s chosen then why canā€™t that first node change Lunar Beam to be always following me like the way Starfall does for balance?

Yeah like that. I think it would fix mobility for bear a little bit a least

Lastly, there are several iconic character archetypes that are strongly tied to specific races and factions, such as Keeper of the Grove or Mountain Thane. Itā€™s exciting to embody these storied archetypes, but we want to ensure that characters of every race and faction can see themselves as those archetypes. Weā€™re open to feedback on what feels good for your characters versus what is frustrating.

As I said in other places, the naming needs to be addressed. It makes no sense why a chunk of the Hero talents are more ambiguously named (Herald of the Sun), so as to not step on the toes of other racesā€™ cultural and lore identity. Why should druid be the exception? There are three races, Troll, Zandalari, and Kulā€™tiran that do not majority align with Elune and the Cenarion circle as closely as the Night Elves, Worgen, or Tauren. Even Tauren is a fringe case here, given how their creation myths and deities have either remained unknown or simply didnā€™t exist and were just Elune, Malorne, Cenarius, to make them the horde counterpart in the Cenarion Circle. I question whether these names have anything to do with class fantasy for everyone, or nostalgia grabs that are jarring for existing races, and does not bode well for any ounce of care towards future druid races. It feels heavily biased and untrue to the care the developers express in the quote above, especially when wildstalker is the only true neutral and ambiguous name out of four hero talents for druid.

Preface this with saying: Iā€™m not a fan of galaxy bear. I donā€™t like dot management as a tank.

That said, this looks like it could be decent. The difference on live between galaxy and traditional is small enough you can pretty much play what you want unless youā€™re trying to pink parse. Assuming the gap remains small and they hit their intended balancing goals, hereā€™s where I land on this.

The abilities, the theme, and the playstyle seems manageable. Definitely a step up in complexity, but guardians are one of the last ā€œsimpleā€ specs, so maybe some optional complexity is warranted. Moonbeams recent buffs didnā€™t make it competitive, but tacking on a few modifiers and extra effects might. Iā€™d like to see the ability to move it, like the DND spell itā€™s modeled after. If DH Sigils donā€™t get nerfed, Iā€™d add the silence effect to it as well.

All in all, it looks really good for galaxy bear enthusiasts, if the tuning holds up.

I anxiously await the Druid of the Claw tree.

Not sure if its a tooltip error on the heroc talents, but it says "Fury of Elune (both balance & GUARDIAN) now ends with a flash of light doing extra dmg.

Is this a typing error or is it a hint of more rework for druid talent trees?

Iā€™m hoping for latter ofc ^^

Agreed. Being able to spread Moonfire easier would be :ok_hand:

Read farther into the tree. You have the option to have Fury of Elune proc from your moonfires (which is awesome), where it will enable that effect for Bears.

Yep, canā€™t wait. All I need now is for the arcane Thrash talent to make it an arcane ability for cooling down Lunar Beamā€¦ and then work on our general/spec tree. The hero tree is fine and as a moonbear, Iā€™m psyched for it.

Its not an error. U can get a talent where your moonfire has chance to proc a 3sec Fury of Elune

The thing that bother with me arcane trash is the talent that make mangle 20% stronger on bleeding target wont work anymore

Unless it counts as an arcane bleed. I know they have had weird interactions with spells that do DD + dot in the past, where sometimes the dot didnā€™t change to a different spell type if you changed the DD portion.

Weā€™ll have to test it, but frankly I canā€™t imagine Mangle will be the focus of a build like this.

I dont either. But that 20% dmg buff with Moonless Night will do some good healing

Moonless Night is such a weird talent. It works in one particular situation (which ironically I use). It works if you make a moonbear build that eschews Beserk but uses Raze. Moonless Night only increases the damage of Mangle and Maul/Raze. Everything else is considered an AOE ability or Moonfire itself, which doesnā€™t count for Moonless Night.

So if youā€™re putting up moonfires and spamming Raze, Moonless Night is awesome (I do that, I know), however if you do basically anything else, Moonless Night is rather meh.

I think the hero talents are looking good for a first draft. I think maximum astral boom is definitely a fantasy we want more of. BTW, BRING BACK STELLAR DRIFT (and displacer beast while weā€™re at it)! It was most bizarre to remove stellar drift as an option. Give it a kiss/curse or something (reduced dmg for move/cast).

HOWEVER, what truly concerns me most for Boomie is the eclipse system. PLEASE remove its current iteration for something more fun, engaging, and less rampy.

Donā€™t make someone cast the opposite of what they want. Make the ā€œbalanceā€ fantasy play in some other way like you did with SOD, for example.

Even the BFA version was better than what we have now, albeit was also a bit boring.

By removing its current iteration for something more streamlined, you could make the hero talents lean harder i to what it seems they are trying to achieve (more instant casting keeper and more hard casting eluneā€™s).
