TL;DR - please remove the Double Jeopardy achievement from the Twin Peaks Meta Achievement (Master of Twin Peaks). It’s counter intuitive to achieve and promotes actively sabotaging the match.
I’ve been working on older PvP achievements lately and have always wanted to finish the “Khan” achievement. Over the years, I did all the fun things needed for this achievement and have finished every achievement needed for Khan except Double Jeopardy (by extension Master of Twin Peaks).
After attempting this achievement for a few weeks (we’ll cover “attempting” below) I went to the ol’ trusty Wowhead to see if my small brain was missing something – it turns out I was missing something! I was missing that there was a bug for many years that allowed you to cheese this achievement via the “mercenary” buff. I (unfortunately?) never participated in said bug.
So, I went back to attempting to get this achievement. For context, you gain this achievement by being down 0-2 in a Twin Peaks match, then coming back and winning the match. I queued up the ol’ “specific battleground” and started jumping into Twin Peaks games.
Now, to get this achievement, I need the enemy team to score twice before I can even begin to think about progressing on the achievement (and the match). Again – I’m in a random BG, and I need the enemy team to score TWICE before our team scores any points. So, I actively have to allow their team to score, while actively not attempting to help my team score. Quick side note - you can now report people for actively sabotaging a game…COOL I’m sure I’ve never been reported for this while working on this achievement!!
Another interesting side note – if anyone has been in random BGs in the last 10 years, they are well aware of the fact that once teams start losing, there is a high probability that a few things are going to occur like: a portion of the team going afk at the GY (and tell everyone they suck); and/or a portion of the team afking out of the BG, and random people getting dropped into a losing BG (and complaining about joining a losing BG). What is exceedingly rare, is people still attempting to win the BG.
But let’s say we do have a group of 10 people that still want (and actively try) to win the BG when down 0-1 and 0-2. These are the best groups; these are the GOLDEN groups…and I love it when I’m (rarely) a part of them. Put here’s where it gets really bad…I have to ACTIVELY try to not help my team, until we’re down 0-2, because my whole goal of queueing for the BG is to get the achievement Double Jeopardy. To be clear - I’m actively not helping my team progress - in fact I’m doing anything I can to get the ENEMY TEAM to score 2 points quickly, so my team has time to score a minimum of 2 points prior to the time running out…
Please for the love of all that is holy in the World…of Warcraft, remove this from the meta.
P.S. for my dear friends that think this is achievable in Rated BGs - I got the 100 wins (or very close to it) in rated combat and have never seen this achievement even close to completing.
P.P.S Blizz please don’t punish me for “sabotage” I’m simply trying to get the achievement y’all put into the game (and connected to an exceedingly rare title).
