Feedback: Combat Approachability

I do not agree with many items you have talked about, but I strongly agree with your last sentence.

I love healing and supporting my team. I do not love the direction and lack of attention healers (and some other pllayers) are getting so far in beta. I am literally so stressed out that I have developed an eye twitch.

Adding on additional things after raid testing

  1. Damage meter just is not comparable to details in any way. It doesn’t show damage and %
  • It doesn’t have death meter
  • It doesn’t have detailed damage breakdowns by spell and crit %
  • Doesn’t show enemy damage taken or which target was hit
  • Doesn’t show buff up-time
  • It’s not resizable or moveable without going into edit mode tool

These are tools we use a lot in raid as a raid leader and without them we will be forced to have live wclogs on a separate monitor between pulls.

  1. Nameplates, especially of little mobs are incredibly difficult and annoying as tanks to figure out if they are on me.
  • Lightblinded vanguard nameplates did not indicate which tank had threat on what so i had to mouse over the other mob, read the % threat to figure out which one I needed to taunt
  • Imperator Averzian little adds nameplates are scattered across the screen and don’t indicate where the mobs are well at all with the cluster of screen flashing and mechanics
  1. Boss timeline
  • Can only have text if it’s vertical
  • Could you please add an option for bars with timers and name of spell (a stack of bars) without the actual timeline. It’s far more readable to just see what’s next and what’s coming on static bars then on a moving timeline (for some of us).
  • PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD let us pick and choose which boss spells to show on the timeline. I know it’s a lot of work but some bosses cast so many spells that are irrelevant or you personally don’t want the information clutter.
  1. Cooldown manager
  • Is there a way to track party member CD”s like tranq or barkskin? We have that on live and as tanks or raiders or raid leaders it feels expected? good? To know what buffs are up and call them on the fly as the fight changes unexpectedly.
  • On that note, Interrupts as well. Not being able to see them means we’ll have to do it with messy comms and can’t lead dungeons with called interrupts (maybe intended for everyone to have to talk about what is currently up and that take over all comms)
  • The stacks on cooldowns are tiny. My ironfur is unreadably small unless I make the icon huge. (Also overlapping buffs are not indicated as well as addons, if I have 3 stacks it doesn’t show me ticks in the bar for when each stack will fall off)
  1. Raid Frames (There’s others but I think these are absolute priority right now)
  • Please let healers make people out of range opaque instead of have the stupid eyeball thing. I dont even heal and it annoys the everliving F out of me. It’s so unreadable.
  • Can you make it so “Show main tank and assist” is automatically turned off for everyone except tank specs. They can turn it on. It’s already an option just a lot of people freaking out about it.

Enemy casts could use a countdown timer inside the bar, Might be an option i’m missing.

I think a LOT of these small buffs and crap we apply probably just need to get dumpstered in the “do not ever do this again” pile. I have a handful on the healers I play, and they are often times so minor that I question their existence at all. I don’t necessarily think it’s a good thing that we’ve got one healer who vomits hots at an alarming rate most of which are pretty weak on their own, and another one that functions as a glorified raid cooldown yet remains pretty fun in small group content. The raid cooldown healer is basically a massive UI /timing minigame, and the hot one is pretty similar.

Then you look at some of the others, and they have things like ancient teachings, or charge limited hots that are considerably stronger which in effect, do the same things with what feels like a lot of quality of life added in.

I’d like for healers to have to spend a lot less time parsing small buffs on the raid frames in general, and shift more to worrying about healthbars and the encounters instead. I might be alone in that, but I think more interesting healing rotations along with dps rotations for hte healers who function off those is better gameplay. You can take it too far like some of the more in depth combos on evoker on live I guess.

Hey there, Heroic (AOTC) DPS raider and 10-12 M+er here just to understand what level of the game I play at.

I have incredibly slow reflexes, it’s not a diagnosed condition, but I’m in the bottom 20th percentile for reflex time - also getting older, and that doesn’t help much. Switching specs and classes is incredibly difficult for me due to reaction and learning timeframes.

Not to burry the lead here - my request is to allow the rotation helper visualization (not one-button - this wouldn’t make sense for one button) to show at least a single “look ahead” highlight. So maybe the current blue button highlight is the “press this now” and maybe a green or purple highlight is “press this next”.

I’m not asking for anything “predictive” or outside of what rotation helper is already doing.

Full disclosure, I’m a (ex/former) Hekilli user. I’m 100% understanding why that addon is going away and the problem it provides, and I’m not asking for an implementation of it. However it’s “next 3 buttons” display helps me prepare for the next GCD before having to see, understand and respond within a single GCD window. Procs, situations, incoming damage, spell stopping, stuns and effects…all of this still changes the “rotation” and interrupts the current button press context, and I’m not asking for that to change.

I can tell you that there are classes I cannot play, and I don’t mean “they’re too hard to learn”, I mean “I literally cannot push buttons fast enough based upon the information on the screen to properly play the class at any reasonable level for the content myself and my friends do.”

Classes like enhancement shaman, which is a very reactive class, are almost impossible for me to pick up and play due to my slow reaction time. Rotation helper, right now, only goes so far in helping me have fun on alts as it’s effectively providing the same challenge.

A single rotation look ahead - I’m not even asking for Hekilli’s next 3 - implemented in the same way as the current rotation helper with a different colored box for the next next ability, would be a phenomenal help to those of us for which the 1 second GCD is a barrier to gameplay for several classes.

Thank you for taking the time to read and consider.
