Feedback: Class Sets in The War Within Season 2

I’m sure somewhere in the 363 posts, it’s been mentioned. I will still give my opinion, since you at least made the post to ask for it. For warrior, they’re all pointless.

Arms, you get punished for playing your rotation properly. Which means you won’t really have any concern of tracking or paying attention to it. It will be completely RNG if you get a long run of big bonus or not.

Fury, again, you will end up completely ignoring it’s procs. It’s just not impactful.

Prot: I understand the concept, but it’s just not useful. The whole point of Shield wall is to have it up at key times when you know something big is coming in. So again, nothing you will track or really interact with.

Please reconsider the Brewmaster Monk 4pc set. Its extremely unfun to spend 6 GCD’s casting BoK → TP to effectively use the proc, and having to do that twice per minute makes it harder to use your other, rotationally important abilities such as Keg Smash, Breath of Fire, or even Celestial Brew.

Could not agree more.

Not only are these dialed in, lazy and cratively bankrupt - many are absolutely counter-intuitive, with many requiring tracking weak-auras.

Huge L, the entire concept should be scrapped. Anti-fun.

Very limited testing on the PTR for full max item level Ret using Templar and tier set, and the Final Verdict (hehe) is!..it does less overall damage than lower item level on live for 1 target, but AoE damage for 5 targets is nice and strong, what happened?

In other news, any tier set that removes its own buff when you use your exceptionally needed large damage button, it’s gonna feel bad, like on Frost DK.

I was wrong, I originally thought all of the class sets would end up being way too homogenous, but some are and some aren’t, the caster iteration is probably the best example of taking one idea and turning it in to unique products that enhance specific spec mechanics.

The melee and healer sets core rule set does however feel too identical though.

you guys need to announce that your walking these tier set bonuses back(or at least explain why their generic for each role, if you say it’s to make balancing it easier that’s at least a reason)

these are uninspired, un-creative, cookie cutter, copy+paste, bland, anti-fun, require add-ons to track(via a Weak Aura) they don’t fulfill any rpg fantasy, have only the basest connection to a goblin theme(gambling and insurance which okay fine) and they don’t even reinforce the hero talents the look of the sets are based off of

any time you guys try to mess with the recipe it ends poorly, tier sets existed from Vanilla to Legion without any problems(were some better then others yeah) till someone got a “bright” idea to not have them anymore in BFA and most of Shadowlands(you guys relented on this in Sepulcher of the First Ones) These tier sets bonuses suck and are not fun, which it should be fun getting a new tier set bonus (does it drastically change gameplay often times no) but its fun, which is what a game should be

if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, Class+Spec specific 2pc/4pc, don’t reinvent the wheel

The DK Tier for Frost and Unholy is so dumb and counter intuitive I think it was made by someone who doesn’t play DK

TLDR: I was wrong about Winning Streak at least for enh shaman, set owns hard. Maelstrom weapon having a 15% chance to remove only ONE stack of Winning Streak at a time is amazing, expected it to remove all 5 stacks at once every time. Can basically always maintain 3-5 stacks of Winning Streak while just getting a lot of CDR for doom winds. Flows well and feels good.

After testing the enhancement shaman set a lot I want to immediately admit I was wrong about all of it. This set owns hard.

I did not know the Winning Streak stacks were removed one at a time, I thought the entire 5 stack was removed at once. The Winning Streak ‘proc’ chance is also seemingly quite high, I built stacks immediately upon entering combat and always maintained 3-5 even with a lot of Maelstrom Weapon spending. This means we basically always have Winning Streak up, mostly at 5 stacks but sometimes 3-4, usually never lower from my time testing. That is just a straight buff from the current tier set (10% flat dmg to lava lash/ice strike/stormstrike/crash lightning). The 4 set is also insane, lots of CDR for doom winds.

The set feels great, I enjoy it a lot. The fact only 1 stack gets removed at a time at a 15% chance to remove one every time you maelstrom weapon, it feels very good. Again I thought all 5 stacks got removed at once which would have been terrible. Also, gaining a stack of Winning Streak adds onto the duration which I was not sure would happen, figured once you hit 5 it may just run down the time.

Edit 2: There is a bug with this set that I have reported and will report here:

The free/instant Lightning Bolt from Arc Discharge (which comes after using Tempest) causes that Lightning Bolt to cast an additional time which eats stacks of Winning Streak even when not consuming Maelstrom Weapon stacks.
I have used Lightning Bolt at various stacks of Maelstrom weapon and it only ever consumes 1 stack of Winning Streak at a time, but whenever I use Lightning Bolt that will then cast an additional time via Arc Discharge, it will consume Winning Streak stacks even when I have no Maelstrom Weapon stacks. I have tested casting Lightning Bolt with Arc Discharge up with no Maelstrom Weapon stacks at all, and the additional cast still consumes Winning Streak.

Edit 4: This seems to be a bug with Lightning Bolt itself for Enhancement. I have casted Lightning Bolt with 0 stacks of Maelstrom Weapon and it still consumes Winning Streak. Arc Discharge Lightning Bolt consumes 2 stacks even when used with 0 stacks of Maelstrom Weapon. I have casted Lightning Bolt both in melee and at range as well in case melee abilities had anything to do with it, but even from range with the only buff I have on me being Winning Streak (no Maelstrom Weapon stacks, not even 1), Lightning Bolt still consumes Winning Streak.

I found out why retribution does way more damage on live with less gear than on PTR with its tier set and all the other PRT goodies… Hammer of Light is nerfed or bugged at about fifty percent of what it is on live with the same gear worn for testing on both.

Echoing some feedback for Survival Hunter - PvE

Blizzard appears to be ignoring this ENTIRE THREAD. The community rarely agrees on anything, but almost universally the community is asking for these tier set concepts to be dramatically changed.

Why do I feel like this is another “You can’t change your Covenant” or Azerite Gear scenario.

Here we go again… This is gonna be just like 11.0. No communication, No explanations, just released with tons of bugs, mediocre hero talents… and wait for 3 weeks AFTER raid goes live for bug fixes.

The only difference in 11.1 is that our tier will only be used for stats and item level… bonus is basically Fatebound but worse cause it doesn’t do anything. Triggered on Rupture ticks…really… how did that get out the door. Strait trash

Greetings Enhancement Shaman. We’ve made changes to your Liberation of Undermine tier set bonuses based on your feedback. In a future PTR build, we’ll be updating your tier set to the following:

  • 2-Set Bonus - Your spells and abilities have a chance to activate a Winning Streak! increasing the damage of your Stormstrike, Lava Lash, and Doom Winds by 5%, up to 25%. Stormstrike and Lava Lash have a 8% chance to remove Winning Streak!
  • 4-Set Bonus - When you lose your Winning Streak! the winds shift into Doom Winds for 4 seconds. When Doom Winds deals damage, your next Crash Lightning deals 20% increased damage, up to 100%. This effect can be stored up to 10 stacks. Additionally, Crash Lightning deals 50% more damage to your main target.

Looking forwards to tank tierset changes. Because the only interesting one is VDH, obviously because they only have 1 major cd so what other cd could you make a tier set based on. Oh but you guys dont like tanks, as evident with the tank exclusive nerfs/changes since the start of this expansion. Cant wait for us to get reduced damage reduction or less threat or something cuz tanks live much more than dps or healers /s

I can freely craft my gear for stats and completely ignore the tier sets on all my characters.

Pretty nice for PVP.

Can we not have a tier set bonus that focuses on an ability that requires two talent points to even remotely be worth pressing in single target because the abilities whole existance is a maitnence buff to make the rest of our abilities cleave. Its already so low in priority on a gcd locked class you almost never press it, and even with this bonus you still probably wont.
