I was chatting with some friends about my ideas for new game modes in WoW on discord and thought maybe I should share the ideas here as well so blizzard and the community can see them discuss them and maybe in the future bring them to life in game.
the below are copy pasted messages from the ones I sent in discord:
I’m looking at videos on private servers like Turtle WoW and Project Ascension, and tbh, I wish Blizzard would take some notes from the community. I’d love to see Blizzard move to Unreal Engine the Nanite lighting systems would make the world look insane, imo. The classless system from Project Ascension is actually kind of cool being able to mix and match and make crazy builds. Like, imagine being a hunter/paladin/druid or a rogue/mage/warlock hybrid and just causing absolute chaos.
What do you guys think? Should Blizzard take a page from the community and make an official classless WoW running on Unreal Engine?
I would love to see them make even more use of the Game Mode tab than they already have. Maybe take that classless idea and put it in there, make Plunderstorm a full permanent game mode, make the Remixes permanent, give us Retail Hardcore, and maybe even a High-Risk PvP mode where you can loot other players after killing them and take their gear. Hell, maybe even add a WoW FPS mode where you play as hunters running around shooting each other in fast-paced PvP. And why not let the community create game modes too like how Fortnite and Roblox have community-driven game dev platforms?
I think the Game Mode tab was their way of experimenting and giving the community more options without making too many changes to the core game. So if they use that to give us more choices that don’t hinder the core experience and are completely optional, I see that as a win.
Thoughts?
