gotta save that to reuse as a tier set when they can’t be bothered to think up something else.
The talented people are on the discord, the untalented are the DEI devs at blizzard who thought AR was anywhere close to a good idea
it basically feels like they’re trying to force us to play it because they put a few new assets in. Shaman get entire visual reworks and paladins gets several reworks for all of their specs. Did they fire the DH devs?
As mentioned by many other players, make the Throw Glaive proc on Blade Dance (Dragonflight season 3 and 4 tierset bonus for 4set) into a talent.
hey devs ween you going buff fury and arms community getting a little bit angry with you guys
Will gladly do a little bit less DPS to not play this atrocious hero talent build.
Cry me a river, crymeariver.
Obligatory: Rework.
With that out of the way, my intention of posting is to see an improvement to Aldrachi until a rework does happen, so it isn’t as bad as it is currently perceived.
Have been playing Aldrachi Havoc since the last week of September. I think thematically, having recently learned the Aldrachi lore, it’s more spot on than some other Hero Talents, but like others have mentioned it is mechanically where the issues lie.
Impression that I got: Souls main mechanic → Demonic Appetite, which is RPPM, so Haste → CoH & Shattered Destiny b/c Haste → Lots of Physical damage events, KYE and Crit. Did try the stock standard Crit-Mastery setup first playing with it, felt slow and restrictive, plus wasn’t meeting that high uptime perfect soul consumption sims anyway.
Inertia/Momentum seemed perfect for Aldrachi, specifically because of how Wounded Quarry acted as a pseudo Demonic Appetite for melee hits, but I just played low-mover; similar to the wowhead “low-mover” although dropping CD & AMN for Chaos Theory/Glaive Tempest + EB & Relentless Onslaught (more Chaos Strike more Souls). Plus uncertainty whether Soulscar is to work with Chaotic Disposition, because from my testing the talent didn’t seem to work. (Neither did Burning Blades or Sigil of Flame, for some 3hrs of Throw Glaive kiting and hitting dummies; other DoT instances like IA, ToR, Burning Wound had variance matching CD)
List of Issues:
- Lack of distinction between Havoc and Vengeance; seemingly not tuned for each spec, “Furious Throws” talent doesn’t work, scarcity of souls and generation.
- “Wounded Quarry”, thus “Reaver’s Mark”, carries everything because of the entire design around souls - most fun and fluidity I had was in Delves, when things were dying and Havoc’s guaranteed souls from kills.
- Reaver’s Mark and Throw Glaive doesn’t work with Wounded Quarry; Throw Glaive doesn’t even warrant pressing regardless.
- Keen Engagement gives a weird amount of Fury for both specs; nothing costs 20 fury, not even Throw Glaive w/ Furious Throws.
- The combo itself is clumsy, and will be even more so without the tier set having to wait on Blade Dance; would’ve made sense if it was Blade Dance OR Throw Glaive.
- Incisive Blade is a Hero Talent that mimics the power of a starter talent.
- Despite the randomness of souls will just chalk up using The Hunt and “munching” a Reaver’s Glaive proc to being a skill issue.
List of potential short term improvements until rework:
- Soul requirement for Reaver’s Glaive reduced
- Warblade’s Hunger max souls reduced, but damage increased
- Reaver’s Glaive fixed to work with “Furious Throws”
- Buff Throw Glaive; S3/S4 Dragonflight Tier had a chance to trigger Throw Glaive multiple times, that entails the ability needed such a frequency to be worth a damn
- Add Reaver’s Glaive & Throw Glaive to Wounded Quarry
- Reaver’s Mark options:
- refunded when the target dies; similar to Deathstalker’s “Darkest Night”
- transfers to the nearest enemy when the target dies; it’s something
- remaining duration applies to the Demon Hunter when the target dies ; like old Nemesis
- Incisive Blade gives the effect of Relentless Onslaught (Focused Cleave for Veng); thematic, allows another talent to be taken
- Preemptive Strike tooltip states 200% of attack power, out of game, instead of 20%
- Warblade’s Hunger buff tooltip also boasts dealing 3-4 times the damage of the talents tooltip
Havoc overall:
- Chaos Cleave returned would help with sustained AoE; Fel-Scarred especially ala Burning Blades, Aldrachi obviously souls (also Serrated Glaive)
- Demonsurge should work like Inner Demon: subsequent uses of Eye Beam / Fel Dev in Meta should continue to trigger Demonsurge; again a buff to sustain
- Fel Bombardment repurposed (as in not Immolation Aura trigger) to give Throw Glaive better synergy with other abilities
It’s sad that we are STILL at the point, even after 11.0.5, where we are begging for emergency bandaid changes for this hero tree just to hold it over until an actual full rework. These changes wouldnt make AR fun in my opinion, because there is just no way to make AR fun with it’s current design, but it would at least make it a bit more tolerable.
I just wish we would get any acknowledgement at all. To be clear im not upset that someone thought of this tree. I am upset that this tree made it to launch in the state it is in. I am upset it wasnt one of the first in line for changes in 11.0.5, given the amount of pressure the community gave throughout beta to rework it. I am upset that after changes for multiple hero trees were announced for that patch and people were upset that aldrachi wasnt shown as being worked on, it was still ignored. I am upset that when AR was buffed and the response from Havoc DHs in the comments was almost exclusively along the lines of “please dont buff this, i’d rather reroll/quit” there was still no response. I am upset that (so far) we have no reason to expect to go into 11.1 with any changes.
Overall my feedback is still the same as it has been since beta (from the main beta havoc post that went away after launch), along with the ever growing frustation at the total radio silence.
Just like last week everyone was Aldrachi in PVP and now everyone went back to Felscared. What changed?
