The SEC is investigating Activision Blizzard over sexual misconduct allegations and improper disclosures, the WSJ reports. It has subpoenaed Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick among others
Would be nice if the article wasnât locked behind a paywall.
Thankfully found a summary of some of the key points elsewhere:
Chief executive Bobby Kotick, as well as several other executives, has been subpoenaed; the SEC has asked for communications from Kotick and senior executives around complaints of company harassment.
The SEC is seeking documents âincluding minutes from Activision board meetings since 2019, personnel files of six former employees, and separation agreements the company has reached this year with staffers,â per WSJ.
Having California on your trail (with resources of the 7th largest economy in the world) is bad enough but when the feds get involved, yeah, itâs really bad.
Whether ActiBlizz wins or loses, their hired legal guns are going to make bank this year. lol
Still early days unless he was planning an exit all along (taking the $150 mill a clue?). But if there was willful negligence and results in charges being filed and the company gets hit with huge penalties, yeah, no CEO is immune from that kind of stuff.
