February 2: Soju Slam Showdown! [N] Drinking contest, 100k gold prize and more!

After a successful tournament held out in the front of the Stormstout Brewery, the creators of the Super Slam Soju are taking their brew to the Jade Forest, at the Shrine of Fellowship to promote it during the Lunar Festival. Once again a contest has been issues to see who can be the last drunk standing at the Soju Slam! Will somebody claim the Soju Slam Champ title, or will the last champion continue to defend their place? All are invited to attend! Details are below!

Date: February 2nd
Time: Registration will be from 4:00-5:00 PM PST the day of. Competition to follow after. Pre-registration available on the discord.
Location: Shrine of Fellowship, Jade Forest. Hosted on the realm of Wyrmrest-Accord, whisper Xiaolen (Horde) or Khongmin (Alliance) if you are off-realm.

The Soju Slam Showdown is a drinking contest and a social gathering for roleplayers on Wyrmrest Accord and Moonguard. Prizes of gold and cash shop items will be offered to the contest winners, while spectators and attendees will get a chance to win art via a raffle at the end of the competition.

Prizes
The art prize will be provided by Wuvvums. A quick reference for quality and style can be seen at wuvvums(dot)me. To receive an art prize, the player must be in one of the raid groups and present to claim it in game. Gold prizes will be ready for anyone on Wyrmrest Accord. It may take longer to deliver gold prizes for anyone on other realms. Anyone from any realm is welcome to participate, so long as they are a roleplay character.

  • Grand prize winner: 100,000 Gold
    Player Choice: One Celestial Mount OR Shadowlands, Pre-order / Pre-order Upgrade
    IC Title: Soju Slam Champ!
  • Second prize winner: 50,000 Gold
    Cinder Kitten (or equivalent pet)
  • Two runner ups will get 25,000 gold each.
  • Raffle winner: full-body, flat color art piece.

Mechanics
Each player is allotted 12 points. At the beginning of the round, they will do a /roll 20 and emote. Players will have 2 minutes to make a roll. If they do not roll in that time, then they will forfeit 3 points for that round. The moderator will then record the amount of points deducted based off the following outcomes:

  • 1 - lose 4 points.
  • 2-10 - lose 2 points
  • 11-19 - lose 1 point
  • 20 - no points are lost

When both moderators are done recording the change in points, they will announce the beginning of the next round and the step is repeated. When a player reaches 0 they black out, and are eliminated from the contest. The last 2 standing competitors of each group will move to the designated area and resume when both groups are present. The contest will go on until only one player is left. In the event of a tie (last players hitting 0 at the same time), the tying players will do one roll, and the highest roll will be the winner.

  • Khongmin - Wyrmrest Accord: moderator for Alliance competitors.
  • Darknettle - Wyrmrest Accord: Web designer.

Rules

** The elixir of tongues will be required to participate in the contest and raffle.

  • Keep OOC chat in raid to a minimum for the convenience of the moderators.
  • Anyone who is OOCly or ICly disruptive may be asked to leave.
    • Combat is not allowed.
    • Disparaging remarks towards other players OOC will not be tolerated. Try to keep IC disparaging remarks to a minimum, even if it’s ICly justified. Too much IC conflict can make it hard for the people who are trying to run the event.
  • Sign ups must be made at least an hour before the competition starts. Once the event begins, no more competitors will be entered in.
  • The raffle will be held at the end of the competition based on who is present in the raid group. Winners must be present in game to claim their prize.

Hi everyone! Excited for this event: Important note, due to another large event running at the same time we will be moving this event to February the 2nd, same time at 5PM but the next day.

I thought I would give this a bump since the holidays have passed. Of our sign ups we haven’t had a lot of Horde response yet and I know we had a good mix of both the last time we ran this! Anyways, I am looking forward to running this soon!

Not sure how much of a presence we could bring currently however Chu could show up just to increase the presence of horde in the mix, perhaps just as audience if nothing else.

Tonight at the same time and location we’re going to do a practice run if anyone wants to come to it. It really helped us get ready and organized for the actual thing as moderators and helped us establish a good rhythm with it. There won’t be any prizes aside from our appreciation and gratitude.

Had so much fun taking part in this event. Although I was eliminated in the first round… who said that Undead can’t get too drunk? lol

I enjoyed what I could be there for! I apologize for having to leave before my round, I had to be off to take care of my grandfather who’s a couple hours or so away.

I also can’t thank Khongmin and Darknettle enough for their help and support too, as well as the vendors and guilds who came. <3 I’m still taking it easy after the even but I’ll want to make sure in the future the people who get involved have a space of recognition on the website and the forum thread.
