Now getting the ‘world server is down’ error message 
I was able to log in an hour ago. Tried geting friends together to do a key. and took about 20 minutes to have everybody be able to get past the transfer failed repreatedly into the area or the dungeon. We got in. And the key went smooth. Was able to hearth to Valdrakken first try after that.
I was able to get in after a really long loading screen on my PC. I just opened a box from blingtron but that’s not the character that I’m currently working on so I logged off of it and now I can’t get back in again. I don’t think the game is feasible right now even if I can login, I will wait until it’s completely fixed.
Gameplay working normally as far as I can tell. – Wildgrowth(Classic SoD).
Retail still down.

on windows computer, able to log on retail and change realms without getting booted, normal loading screen now.
Same here. I managed to get MC and BL done, and was wrapping up TK when I got stuck. As far as I know, I’m still there.

as of right now retail - Area 52 i was able to log in first try and hearthstone to Org no problems when before it would not let me swap instances

The issue being all versions of game means it’s not small. It’s likely a coding error or unforseen issue. Wrath classic is the easiest place for them to do a live test to see if it resolves issue.
They should immediately close hardcore servers any time an issue like this happens and seriously consider rolling them back to scheduled maintenance backup today. We can all complain but anyone on hardcore who does because of this issue has a very valid grievance.
I’m not disputing the intricacies of maintaining the servers – but if the issue was known 2+ hours ago with the tens of thousands of users attempting to connect simultaneously in a never ending loop of attempt connection/328 error/reconnect/328 error and just pinging the servers over and over again wouldn’t the play have been to do the 15min server shutdowns and address the issues across the board? – Even with the shutdown I still have characters inside of instance(s).

They are likely doing that by rerolling wrath first.
If they found the issue, having people logging in non stop allows them to test the fix. They may need people logging in constantly to check the code and isolate.

The others in my household who use windows are able to log onto their characters and collect vault loot etc, but i am on a mac and can get to the character select screen and been able to switch servers but cannot enter the game. Just the ‘world server is down’ notif whenever i try to log onto a character.

Whatever you did seems to be working for sod for me at least able to move zones with no issues now and no rubberbanding while running
I did onyxia, firelands, hyjal and dragonsoul stuck in dragonsoul.
