Features that will make wow awesome

Most of these relate to hardcore - but some can be ported to retail if all goes well in classic.

  1. Classic wow hardcore server- delete or transfer off the server on death.
  2. Save replays of the last x minutes, to allow people to share death videos on hardcore. I think StarCraft has this. This would be so entertaining.
3)Allow guilds to have cross guild chat - and let the guilds set the minimum level where it can be accessed to keep out the bots. Bring back the greenwall!!
4)Limit boosting like som to encourage open world leveling.
  3. Death notices to all players (with option to disable or set min level)
  4. starting zones can be crowded- so increase respawns of quest mobs or layer.

Here are some rough ideas that may or may not be good:

  1. avoid ways where people can farm gold to buy gear. If you can just buy gear in the ah or run a dungeon over and over then it becomes too easy to overgear and level faster than everyone else.

  2. To encourage people to keep playing hc at 60, add a luck meter where you can increase the drop rate of a given item the more you run a dungeon. It resets to zero if the item drops.
Add more in game events that

  3. add some mini events in game . Allow players to host and participate . Like pvp where players go to jail if tagged - add new skills for each class to use in the mode.

Most of these “features” are already addons or 3rd party software that don’t need to be provided by Blizzard. Blizzard already layers packed servers and has dynamic respawning.

  1. Play the game how you wanna play it, don’t inforce your playstyles on others
  2. Luck meter will turn into dungeon spamming and Epic farming.
  3. This isn’t a BR

The clips feature would be a huge marketing boost for blizzard - some people do use twitch and record/stream and post wow videos, but many great moments have been lost because it’s an extra effort for the end user. It seems like they already have the tech to do this so it shouldn’t be a huge effort.

The hardcore addon did have a greenwall to communicate across guilds but it had to be turned off due to people advertising. People could in theory join a channel now, but it would run into the same lack of a spam filter. People really loved the greenwall and it is a very cheap thing for blizzard to add to classic.

There are low cost high benefit opportunities for blizzard so they should be added to the project list from a business perspective.

Green wall is a great idea on a non HC server. Is it really needed on a dedicated HC server tho? Lookingforgroup would only have HC players, we could just use that.

Looking for group isn’t mixed with guild chat and requires an extra step to join so it won’t work as well in uniting everyone into one chat. A global death message is key also. Some record or interface showing recent deaths would be awesome.
As for integrating these changes into a fresh non hc - the greenwall would be a nice option for large guilds. Death messages wouldn’t be necessary. events using the classic world could be hc or non hc. They might be instance based where you transport to a map - maybe a hide and seek map or hide and escape the zombies- jump puzzle races between teams for treasure, etc.
The hc server would be opt in - so people would only join it if they want that game mode.

Not sure I’d want to see the entire server deaths. That thing would be endless spamming. Got 180 ppl online atm and deaths are quite frequent with just that number. Hope that feature has filters.

Maybe they could scroll the most recent 5 in the upper left

it put me in a random channel with a very nasty name i cannot leave, what is the deal?

If you have an NVidia card, there’s a built in feature that where you can automatically save the last 30 seconds (configurable) of gameplay to a file with a key press. I can’t remember the name of it but you should be able to google. I’d imagine AMD cards have this as well.

You can also just stream your gameplay to twitch at all times and then just clip whatever you want.

No need for Blizzard to reinvent the wheel here, some stuff is just better left to 3rd party. A good example of this is voice chat. Would you believe me if I told you that Blizzard has a very robust, functioning voice chat built right into WoW? Probably not… most people don’t know it exists. They launched it right around the time that Discord was becoming hugely popular. While discord and wow voice chat were of comparable quality (likely no longer true), the community features that discord provides were much more compelling.

So yea, just use a pre-existing solution for this
