Fear of spiders

How many of you have real fear of spiders even cartoon ones like in World of Warcraft?

I can deal with spiders in game, but given the crab option, I might not ever have to see a spider in wow again. It’s a win for me!

WoW spiders bother me the most, but not a total freak out - just a bit of a shudder and ick, “gotta get through this again?!” feel.

Im hyped for the “drider” xpac personally.
And i enjoy actual underground/true dungeon crawling themes (Deepholme is too open and wide)

Nah. We need 4K ultraHD spider content.

I personally do not.

They don’t bother me in game. Deep water bothers me far more. Yet despite that I like Vashj’ir…

Back in Cataclysm, I tried getting my best friend to RAF with me. We got pretty far, but the moment we got to Azjol’Nerub, they more or less stopped playing the game.

CRIPPLING arachnophobia, but I had ran the place so often during Wrath I hadn’t even considered Hadronox was still a thing. Was bad enough to cause an episode, and I still feel bad about it to this day.

Me though? Tight, confined, yet crowded places. Been stalked on the subway a few times during peak hours. ._.

This kind of thing always helps me put my own fears in perspective.

Bees and wasps IRL? Nope nope nope nope nope nope.
Bees and wasps in game? Just another mob. Some of them look pretty cool, too.

Not to put down folks struggling with their fears, but it’s kind of reassuring to know I’m not that far gone, so to speak.

Maybe Blizzard could do what Grounded does and have an arachnaphobia setting.

Real spiders yes, ingame spiders no.

What I’m wondering is how this new crab setting is going to work in the zone and raid filled with spider people in TWW.

wow does not do the spiderwebs jsutice.

most spiders lay on the ground. very rarely you have a spider in an actual web rather than dangling from one wire.

I don’t, but I have a friend who literally will disappear for a few days if he sees a spider in a video game or gets sent one in his Discord DMs.

I have a slight aversion to actual spiders, but it doesn’t really extend to photos and games.

Probably the worst spider-related reaction I’ve had in WoW is that one quest in Hillsbrad where you collect spider eggs from diseased bears, because hitting an AoE and having like 10 eggs explode while 10 *squelch* noises go off at once is kinda gross.

That said, I completely get why other folks have difficulties with 'em. I have a sister-in-law who likes playing Sea of Thieves, despite the fact that she kind of shuts down if her pirate falls in the water with sharks.

I can deal with spiders but I understand some can’t. Having an option for those players is a good thing.

Plus… crabs.

Craaaab people, craaaaab people.

Yeah, this is my main issue. Deep water is difficult for me, but not impossible. That Horde quest in BFA where if you kept your flash light on for too long, the whale shark would come and kill you was absolutely horrific, and amazing at the same time.

If I see a spider irl I get really scared. I may act tough online, but once I see a spider it’s over.

Me.

Scariest moment in WoW:

Back in the day, I had snuck up to some caves filled with giant spiders in Storm Peaks while below level in order to gather some Iceweb Spider Silk.

Once inside the caves, I was busy killing a giant spider in front of me and, because I play my characters from an over-the-shoulder view, spider legs suddenly appeared on each side on me reaching forward…

As an anachrophobic, just the idea having a giant spider sneak up on me from behind is enough to give me the heebie jeebies but actually being trapped between two while the one behind surrounds and touches me with it’s legs… still makes me shiver.

Water is absolutely terrifying they should do more with it :stuck_out_tongue: would’ve loved if Nazjatar patch leaned far more into deep sea eldritch horror.
