FDK Updates 10.0.7ptr Posted

Remoreseless Winter and MotFW are now baseline and more! Basically getting 2-3 more pts to spend depending if you take Fatal Fixation.

Still would like to see Glacial Advance work with Ice Cap and Cold-Blooded Rage.

      • Remorseless Winter has been removed from the talent tree and now learned at level 19.
      • Might of the Frozen Wastes has been removed from the talent tree and now learned at level 25.
      • Frostreaper has been removed from the talent tree and now learned at level 28.
      • New Talent: Fatal Fixation – Killing Machine can stack up to 1 additional time. Replaces Frostreaper on the talent tree.
      • Biting Cold has moved to Remorseless Winter’s old position in the Frost specialization tree.
      • Everfrost has moved to Biting Cold’s old position in the Frost specialization tree.
      • Obliteration now causes Soul Reaper to also grant Killing Machine and have a chance to generate a Rune during Pillar of Frost
        • Developers’ note: Frost will be seeing a few updates to their tree in 10.0.7. Currently Frost feels 1 or 2 points off from being able to make more meaningful choices within their spec tree. To help ease some of this we are shifting a few talents to be auto-learned on level up and replacing them with a new or existing talent. The new version of the tree should offer a little more variety and feel less linear when allocating your talent points and give you more choice based on the content you are running.

Wow

 That’s pog.

Currently Frost feels 1 or 2 points off from being able to make more meaningful choices within their spec tree.

Gee, I wonder why.

Let’s FREAKING GO THOUGH. KM STACKS.

You can start by celebrating that your idea for KM getting stacks is coming true!

Along with Soul Reaper giving you KM procs like you also wanted.

I bet you are a very happy frozen gladiator right now, Chillpills.

im thrilled you actually have no idea, This is such a superior way of buffing FDK without just bandaid fixing damage onto buttons

Soulreaper isnt a rotational hinderance for virtually no reward anymore

KM overlap causing a loss of dps is almost impossible now, You’ll almost never see it occur again and when it does it wont be as significant as before. You also now can store killing machines during downtime from kiting, or being cced, or having to do mechanics

No more talent point waste just from existing as a 2h player

Might of the Frozen Wastes - Wielding a two-handed weapon increases Obliterate damage by 30%, and your auto attack critical strikes always grant Killing Machine.
Category changed from Talents to Specialization

Seems blizzard agreed with the majority of 2H users. Thank you, Blizzard. MoTFW being a talent never made sense, and I’m glad this change is now in place.

On top of that, these changes are amazing and I hope this ushers in a new era of 2H users being able to enjoy the Frost spec as well as BOS users.

Fatal Fixation - Killing Machine can stack up to 1 additional time - Finally

Mmm now I can freely switch between Unholy and Frost with 2H being baseline.

I was really hoping for a bit more survivability for frost in pvp, more damage is cool but having to kite sucks

Honestly, with how changes for FDK were dead in the water for 230+ days, I will take these wonderful changes with pride.

Perhaps with these changes FDK will finally not feel like a handicap in M+ and can actually compete in terms of damage output.

Are they removing SMF and putting it baseline?

MotFW and Frostreaper baseline

Kelliste is in shambles right now. Guarantee it.

Thrilled about these changes! Are they already up on the ptr?

I think it’s good the get these changes but let’s not get too excited and oversell the amount of improvement or we will get nerfs like they did the deathstrike. I think these changes are needed to bring us to level at least in the PvP context. Blizzard looks to be continuing to be receptive of community feedback!!

Oh yeah im shaking in the corner!

Dude you really need to get me out of your head. You are like a jaded ex at this point.

The only thing is Frostreaper isnt baseline

While it might say you learn it automatically at 28, you still need Killing Machine so it should just be baked into KM. Even in the datamined changes Killing Machine says that it makes your next Obliterate Frost damage and a crit.

Good step in the right direction quality of life changes for Frost. Happy to see it.
10.07 is looking like DK’s turn for attention.

I wouldn’t know. I don’t follow the development of the Warrior class and I don’t play one. The point is that MoTFW was inherent to the spec in SL when they reintroduced 2H to frost. It was given to 2H as our “2nd rune forge” because 2H was lacking behind DW and blizzards goal was to bring parity to the two subspecs. Apparently Blizzard agrees that it should still be inherent to the spec along with many other talents that should be baked in.

Doing a direct comparison to another class is not what myself or many others are concerned with. But if I had to take a shot at responding you, I would simply say: look at what Blizzard just did. It’s not a bridge too far to pause and think that maybe they will make many other talents baseline again when and where it makes sense for other classes as well.

If MotFW never made sense as a talent then the same thing can be said for SMF is all.

Maybe you should post that in the Warrior forum then?
