Favorite Zone and Why?

Lets try to have a little fun for a change! It can be because of lore, pace or anything goes.

I,ll start by saying and please don’t call me cra-khead but I found I liked Ungoro the most. There were just so many quests there and the area isn’t that big to me. It got me out of my questing slump.

PS: Ive always hated Ungoro to till this classic exp!

The Hinterlands was probably my favorite zone because of the ease of leveling and the groups I had for Jintha’alor quests.

In no particular order:

Loch Modan
Barrens
Westfall

The Barrens may top the list overall, and definitely when playing Horde. it is the most Horde zone there is. Just love it.

STV has always been special to me. Maybe because in 2005, I was high as sh!t crossing from Duskwood into a dangerous jungle that I would be stuck in for a month. It’s a beautiful ordeal.

Teldrassil. It’s the only starting area that’s relatively difficult for its level range, which prepares you for the rest of the questing in the game. Its quests will take you to level 11 or 12 if you bother to do them all. Also, it’s gorgeous… a nice, soothing atmosphere with tranquil music and a pretty, florishing landscape to boot.

Before classic, I had Un’goro as my second favorite zone of all time. Loved the environment, the danger with Devilsaurs, and the TBC style singular quest hub that just let me do one large lap around the zone.

Leveling in classic confirmed my love of the zone, but another zone has actually now leap frogged it.

Azshara. For end game purposes, it is a very relaxing farm zone. Tons of great herbs, no annoying mobs, and the add bonus of the elemental fishing pools. I never got to experience endgame vanilla before classic, so Azshara was just a zone with not much questing. I sort of forgot about it when they turned it into a goblin pleasure land.

Now, it ranks ip there with TBC Zanger as a zone I just love to hang out in.

Nice man that’s awesome…

N I have to say that STV is up there for me to:)

Elwin Forest and Weatfall.

Alliance has much better starting zones. Feels very wowish in lore and design.

Jintha alor is the best non instance in the game. Far better loot and drops than Ulda and ZF.

Feralas. So serene and I like the atmosphere and the color palette. The ruins add some flavor and a feel of history to the place. I also really enjoy fighting ogres, yetis and hippogryphs so I can farm there for a while and not get bored. I can also kill grimtotem tauren which are rare to kill for alliance so a nice change of pace for humanoid farming. Fishing there is also cool as there is usually a great horizon to admire from the art team. Overall really peaceful place.

I used to hate Westfall when I first played, but now I love it. I wouldn’t say that it’s the “best” zone but I find it so peaceful, and I love how despite being a succession of burnt-out farmsteads that you still come to identify each one and learn what happened to them based off their state of disrepair and enemies in the area.

I use Westfall’s design philosophy as a reference whenever I need to DM a new campaign.

For me, it will always be Ashenvale. The Night Elves fighting the Horde back to keep there lands safe from them. Well, at least in cata that’s how it went.

Classic wise, it is still one of my favorite zones. Just seems like for Night Elves there’s really NO STORY compared to cata. But horde wise, just a war machine marching in and no story for alliance side really to do much.

Duskwood will probably always be my favorite, but Westfall is a pretty close 2nd. The music in Westfall when you are just running across those open fields just fits perfectly.

3rd would probably be Tanaris. Probably a bit strange for some, but on the Alliance side everything you have been doing up to that point pretty much is some form of green, so by the time I hit Tanaris in the 40’s that desert setting is a welcome sight.

Classic has so many great zones, it’s hard to choose! However, Mulgore and Winterspring have always been favorites of mine. Now with Classic I can add Hinterlands and Azshara to that list.

Duskwood, then tanaris, then un’goro.

ashenvale sucks c*ck

Stranglethorn Vale - There are so many quests! The zone is huge, every area seems to have 1-2 quests associated with it and the mobs go from level 30-50. The coast is always full of fish spawns and floating wreckage. Abundant PvP. Tons of Iron and Mithril spawns. Booty Bay even has a bank so it’s easy to stay there for a long time. Every time that I level a toon I always spend several levels in STV.
