Edit: You knwo what I have you on ignore perma cause you always make stupid comments and have a know it all attitude, I asked about the API and typo’d and you made that your attack surface, I dont give a hoot about what childish nonsense it doesn’t impress—You’re simple you have no thoughts on the topic or its points, dev’s hard work, any opinion on even simple api and remaking on changes over time, player feed back being seen happen thru this era. I’m just kind of confused as to what you’re stating and the asterisk at the end doesn’t help, there is no footnote!
Are you talking about the changes in the API from TWW to Midnight? From what I understand, cutting back available API functions is how they stopped combat addons from working.
Do you see that as a good thing or bad thing.

Yes seeing them implement the api even making prior restrictions available after the addon apocalypse, and the corelation to player feed back over time
People had been complaining about them going beyond combat features and taking away other features.
Preach had said something about them taking away the ability (which probably means an API routine) to read the combat log. Of course if there is other non combat information in that log that non combat addons use that could be an issue. Or if not the combat log something like that.
I don’t know the API very well. I wrote a small coordinate display addon just to see how it works with tons of help from the Macro and UI people. I found the list of addons is long, not very well indexed and even back then half of the ones in the list you were not allowed to use.
The people who write addons must spend a great deal of time learning just which API routine to use and when.
I don’t know anything about the API to know what was better or worse for addons. I’m not an addon author.
I think they streamlined it for 12.1, though? I’d have to ask Mapko.
