I thought we could use some more positive threads around here because we’re all a bunch of miserable sacks of salt.
Who is your favorite small time character/npc and why do you like them?
What’s the lore behind them? If they don’t have much (or any) lore, have you headcanon’d anything for them?
Always Skyguard Khatie. It’s hard not to find her dorky flirting endearing.
Uh, that’s tough.
If I had to go with a character least known, then it would be Selin Fireheart from Magister’s Terrace. He was always interesting to me because of his demonic model, and his voice acting was really intense: “I am a god!” I just read that he was a captain of a personal guard or for Kael’thas, and similarly fell into the seduction of “demonic energies,” whatever that means. Even with just those scraps of lore, though, his model and voice acting sold me on his character.

The sassy Wildhammer shaman from Cataclysm. Really wish she’d show up a whole lot more.
Anduin typical shonen protagonist ideologist dumb but more boring.
Dumass. His raising into undeath left him a bit devoid of his full faculties, but he tries his best.
Also, and this one is especially painful, I really liked Delaryn Summermoon during the Alliance quests in the War of the Thorns. I thought she was an interesting new addition to the night elf roster. Yeah…
I wish they’d done more with Boss Mida. I always liked to imagine her to be the cool headed brains behind the Bilgewater Cartel that kept everything running despite Gallywix’s incompetence.
They could have promoted her to head of Bilgewater instead of snatching Gazlowe away from the neutral Steamwheedle cartel.
For me it’s Fei Li, from the Shado-Pan dailies in Townlong Steppes. So many reasons she’s great, not the least of which is that she’s a rare Pandaren Mage! We have very few characters representing that part of the race. Plus she’s got a great model and voice, and says lots of silly fire puns while hanging out and doing dailies with you. She’s my buddy!
I was tickled pink when she showed up briefly in Legion. I bet she’d make a great mage card in Hearthstone, too! C’mon, Pandaria-themed expansion >:D
Goriona because she left Blackhorn to die.
Shame blizzard has forgotten about her. I hate it when blizzard puts potentially interesting characters into lore limbo. Patch 8.3 would’ve been a great time to bring her back. After all the twilight dragon stuff we got in Legion via shaman order hall chain and in BFA with island expeditions and the rank 3 crucible of flame chain. Would’ve been nice to see if her leaving Blackhorn to die was due to N’zoth ordering her to do so, or something she did on her own free will.
Jevan Grimtotem should’ve appeared during the recuse Baine scenario. He still hasn’t made an in-game appearance yet. Would’ve been nice to see him in the shaman order hall as well instead of that traitor Magetha. Alas Jevan is another character trapped in lore limbo for no reason.
Zian the Endless Shadow. I want to know about the other Mogu emperors.
Fargo Flintlocke. I do not care that he is an insert from a web-comic-author-turned-employee. I get a kick out of the guy.
But once ol’ <name> here blasts through their bulkhead in a hail of splintered wood, blood, and phlegm and then starts crawlin’ across the deck with both legs broken, oh aye, they’ll not see THAT comin’ by a sweet mile, no sir!
I’d 'ave a cleaner shot 'round 'ere if someone hadn’t all gone and done regrown up all them trees.
Iffin’ yeh don’t sumtimes shoot a small furry animal out yet gun, 'ow would yeh keep it clean? The druids don’t 'ave an answer to THAT one!

Overlord Natoj. He’s been standing there next to Runthak for an eternity, helping him throw down dragon heads. Runthak, unlike his peer Saurfang got to meet his end quietly, and at the hands of murderhobos.
But Natoj is still alive, and can maybe become a character worth caring about!
And he’s a Troll, so it’s obvious why I have hopes for him.
I want to see more of Jevan Grimtotem and they really should do more with Nazgrel already.
I don’t know if they count as trash tier but I love Hexlord Raal and Wardruid Loti. I hope they make the jump into future expansions and don’t get left in BFA.
Was she the one who did the interrogation of the Ogre by dangling him above a ship fan? I liked her.
Mountaineer Dolf. Legends say he’s really a gray man, from WoT, because despite being right there, it takes new players 2 hours to find him.
Rival assassins got to the other gray man disguised and known only as Mankrik’s wife.
