Favorite starting zone?

From things like environment, story, etc, what are your favorite starting zones for the races?

Mine personally is Gilneas for the Worgen. It drags on after a while but I love the old timey feel of everything, plus I love the whole controlling a curse storyline. Lord Godfrey being so racist he kills himself is icing on the cake too.

It’ll always be Coldridge Valley, for me. Durotar is a close second.

The music and snow blowing around- it’s a core part of my childhood, making gnome/dwarf alts to play with friends.

So nostalgic, nothing will top Classic-style Dun Morogh for me.

Although, the Durotar drums and the heat, and the cacti, and orange canyons, evoke similar memories for me.

Gilneas was awesome, yeah, but I was already a teenager at that point lol, so a bit less nostalgia there.

Mulgor. Was my first leveling experience in wow and I love the tauren people.

The wide open plains and the music all give me a sense of calm with a hidden danger and wonderful exploration while on the hunt.

Its also nostalgia and the grass is better than most places too. :cow:

Good question, OP.

The Wandering Isle, despite its length, is a very good starting zone. I’d probably love it more if it didn’t take so long to get back to Azeroth.

After that, I’d probably say Red Cloud Mesa and then to Mulgore for the Taurens. It’s a nice green and calming environment.

In terms of the one I have the most fond memories of, definitely Eversong. The one I like the best, probably Wandering Isle.

The goblin starting zone by a longshot. When I started playing I began by checking out the starting zone for each race. And when I got to the goblin starting zone I immediately fell in love this with race. That starting zone does a nice job of fleshing out goblins and has a somewhat smooth progression. Is a bit long, but fun. Nearly all my characters have been goblins since.

Getting lost in undercity was my fav. Forsaken is my fav wow race. I love all the environments and the vibes. I dont think Deathknell itself is my fav area but the entire forsaken experince itself is.

After that it would have to be teldrassil zones.

Durotar is the superior starting zone. Not like the other starting zones weak and soft they are.

Teldrassil was my first ever starting zone back in 2004. I loved everything about it…

…except the barrow den. That underground maze was annoying.

I liked the forsaken starter area. There are nicer looking ones, granted, but I liked the vibe of Tirisfal. It felt dangerous right out the gate. You didn’t start out facing things like wildlife to begin your adventure. You come out of the grave squaring off with plaguehounds, plaguebats, zombies, and zealots gunning for your extermination. Staying on the road to Brill didn’t always guarantee safety either. I just felt more accomplished getting through Tirisfal and Silverpine because there was possible death pretty much everywhere.

Elwynn forest is my total favorite.

But I do also love the Dracthyr starting zone for Evokers, as well as Teldrassil.

This question comes with a lot of nostalgia. And everything has changed BUT Teldrassil was my first zone. Everything was new and I was shocked, pleased and surprised that players could “bless” each other! Mark of the Wild or the Stamina one. It was a “feel good communal thing” and it made my first experiences memorable and special.

I think Eversong Woods is my top favorite. The music and visuals of the zone are unmatched for me. Though Dun Morogh is another favorite and will always be close to my heart since my first character was a dwarf
