Favorite Race/Class Archetype?

WoW has plenty of race/class archetypes. Dark Ranger, Thane and Blademaster just to name a few. Forsaken Shadow Priest will always be my absolute favorite. The Cult of Forgotten Shadow being a foil to the Church of Light and the story potential to show the more macabre themes in religion is too tantalizing. Too bad the Cult is all but absent in game.

I also really like Dwarf Marksman and Blood Elf Destro Warlock. The Dwarf levelling path feels so good as a hunter. Super thematic and secluded in the mountains. Destro also feels perfect for Blood Elves. Reducing your enemies to cinders with fel and fire just fits a Blood Elf’s color palette and need for flare.

Do you have a favorite race/class fantasy combo?

This right here - T2 NE Druid lol

Was my first and will be my #1 until the end.

I also combo it with the gray owl cat and matching flight form to fit the “back to basics” vibe.

Blood Elf Hunter.
Elven Archers are classic for a reason. Blood elves are more like the elves i grew up watching in films like LOTR.

Human Paladin for now, but I’m looking forward to them unlocking more races for Paladin.

I’ve been playing Dungeons & Dragons for over 30 years and World of Warcraft since January 2005. I love playing magic users of all stripes, especially humans, elves, and gnomes. I also like dwarf warriors, human paladins, and elf druids. This mage started as a human and race changed to night elf and gnome before settling on void elf.

True, I was heavily debating making a Blood Elf Hunter for this reason. I’m actually going through the LOTR trilogy right now, having never watched it. I’m seeing where a lot of fantasy themes and tropes come from. Really liking it! Still makes me feel like my Dwarf Hunter fits perfectly. Going through Khaz Modan (almost completely alone because no one levels there anymore) and listening to the music is just peak.

Thematically, My favorite Class Archtype in any game is the Heavy Armor Battlemage. Just an absolute unit decked out in plate armor with a big sword/axe/hammer, but still casting spells too.

In this game that would mean Paladin or Death Knight, mainly.

Blood Knights

My first and last and always

Dwarf Brewmaster.

I always loved the idea of a Mag’Har Blood Death Knight.

A “Knight of the Bone Axe.”

An untainted Orc that starts his undeath being sent after Illidan in Outland, where he’ll blend in Better.

I started with that concept back before Ally DK was a thing by being an Orc/DK. But swapped as soon as Shadowlands dropped. Kinda inspired by the fact that DKs always had to level in the outland before chasing Arthas in Northrend.

Non paladin blood troll zandalari, if you have the bloodhunter outfit

Also after i dragged myself to do worgen heritage and learnt about worgen druidism, i surprisingly favor worgen monk and its somewhat nature based abilities

Unironically human paladin? That combination explores both sides of the holy warrior coin. The knight in shining armor and the zealot.

  • Draenei Paladin, ever since seeing Maraad in TBC trailer.
  • Night Elf Demon Hunter, like Illidan.
  • Tauren Druids.
  • Pandaren Brewmaster.
  • Dark Iron Shaman because Ragnaros connection.
  • Troll BM hunters with spirit beasts as Loa gifts.
  • Void Elf Mage because of High Elf/Blood Elf heritage and they got voided trying to research new magics.
