Classical

Some jazz; Chuck Mangione, Gerry Niewood and such

Late 60s stuff; Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Emerson Lake & Palmer …

New Age; Enya, David Arkenstone, Blackmore’s Night …

Have loved attending opera since I was a child, but don’t really like the music that much without the production.

I like a lot of music. My family is very musical - I play keys - and so I can usually find good stories and tasty ear candy from every genre, but here are some of my favorites.

Prog rock (From Genesis to Flower Kings to Frost*)
Jazz fusion (Weather Report to Holdsworth to Chick Corea)
Jazz (Keith Jarrett to Bill Evans to John Coltrane)
Singer-songwriter (Joni Mitchell to Elton John to Joan Armatrading)
Metal/Prog Metal (Dio to Symphony X to Queensryche)
Classic rock (Chicago [Transit Authority] to Journey to The Beatles)
Mid 19th through current orchestral music (Frederic Chopin to Ralph Vaughan Williams to Aaron Copland)
Funk (Bootsy Collins to Heatwave to Marcus Miller)
Pop (Sheena Easton to Michael Jackson to Lady Gaga)
Synth Pop (Tears for Fears to Howard Jones to Duran Duran)
Punk/Emo (Say Anything to Saves The Day to Fenix TX)

Oh, and I dig Sondheim, too

Indie? (Alec Benjamin, Marina, Dodie Clark, Nico Collins, Orla Gartland, Mxmtoon, etc)

  1. Metal. Some bands I like more than others, like Sabaton.
  2. Classic Rock. Yeah I like the oldies.
  3. Progressive Rock. That is like smooth rock.
  4. Opera. Andrea Bochelli is life.

Hard to rank them, but mainly:

  • Trance (old school Above and Beyond/Anjunabeats, Solarstone, etc not the newer housey stuff)
  • Classic rock
  • Various 90s pop/alt rock
  • Electronic rock (e.g. Celldweller)
  • J-rock
  • Synthwave/Retrowave
  • Drum n’ bass
  • Whatever you call the tracks on Pure Moods Vol 1 (new age maybe?)

I love stuff from the 60’s-90’s. Obviously not all of it. My taste is all over.

Also love trance/techno from around 2000 onwards.

Favorite band of all time is The Grateful Dead. Been to 100+ shows.

These days though, I’m mostly into New Age music, but I have a nostalgia for the music of my youth.
