I said favorite and not “best” because I want to know what you enjoy about them.
I’ve only leveled alliance characters and I’m considering rolling a horde alt.
What are your favorite horde leveling zones? Which ones have the most interest quests and story vignettes?
The Barrens without a doubt. So many memories there since you’re there for almost 15 levels.

Thousand Needles, and because I hadn’t seen pre Cata world.
Funny watching the elevator boss claim victims.

Honestly horde leveling zones suck compared to alliance. All are huge, lots of walking.

Silverpine is a lot of back and forth, and swimming too to that island for gnolls and few other quests.
Bunch of unfinished areas too.
Damn, I thought maybe Forsaken zones would be more finished since they’re on the eastern kingdoms, also the scarlet crusade seems to a pretty clear thread to follow through the story.
First 12 levels are a blast. Skip the island though. Silver pine forest though very unfinished… better off going to cross roads.
Only reason to be in silver pine if you are buying SFK carries.

For looks, it’s Barrens hands down. I also like Stranglethorn Vale and Hillsdale (Tarren Mill).
In Classic, it seems like you have to quest in 2 or 3 zones. You can’t do all the quests in one zone, then move on to the next zone. There are too many level gaps. That’s true for both Horde and Alliance.
That was changed in WoW, years later. But not in Vanilla.

I’ll take Barrens and Stonetalon over Redridge. Ashenvale at least is pretty to look at.
Not a fan of Silverpine and Fenris. When classic dropped, the mob spawn rate there was insane. I’d kill mobs and 3 seconds later they were back.
What I like about classic unlike retail is the whole Final Fantasy style of east vs. west or north vs. South sections or gaps within a zone that often you need to avoid and to revisit later. Like getting to the Gilneas Wall. Not just run willy nilly and aggro 20 mobs scaled to you.
Some zones feel like they were designed to annoy the crap out of you. Gnolls and murlocs are such PITAs for melee cause they get scared and go find a buddy or 3 to come help.
