Not gonna lie I loved Mists of Pandaria and Garrosh Hellscream in Seige of Orgimmar was epic fun heck the whole raid was.
Cataclysm has an incredibly nostalgic place in my heart.
This may be a really weird choice, but I think my most nostalgic raid boss is “The Butcher” In Highmaul.
It was the boss where my friend FIANLLY Convinced me to reroll to a Tank Class, and the rest is history. I’ve been a Tank Main ever since for my entire career in WoW after that point, even going through multiple guilds, friend groups, and massive difficulties in my life, I still think back to that raid and how it defined my future in WoW to this day.
(I think my other favorite raid bosses are the Garothi Worldbreaker and Gelbin Mekkatorque. Giant Mecha Battles are cool)
Favorite expansion was Legion and favorite raid boss was Elisande (Nighthold).
I also agree that MoP is my favorite expansion, but I have a lot of memories from it so I may be biased.
Fave expansion is Legion.
Krosus comes to mind because when we were doing the intro scenario to legion and Krosus killed Tirion Fordring, I knew he was going to be a raid boss and I really liked the fight.
The Burning Cusade, Magtheridon
I really can’t pick a favorite expansion, it changes depending on the what I am doing in-game.
Favorite Boss though… ugh…
Lei Shen - Throne of Thunder. Absolutely amazing fight back then, and I was very proud of being able to get the very first AoTC introduced to the game. That entire raid was awesome.
Lich King - I mean… back then it was the absolute most difficult boss I had ever been in. And I was the main healer, getting that kill was one of the best memories I have in wow. Everyone was tearing up their mics and screaming lol.
Sire Denathrius - More recently, this has been one of the most fun fights in the last 6+ years. Easily better than any fight on BfA, and Legion. Legion had lots of nostalgia-ish themes, but honestly none of the fights were fun-memorable. Contrary to popular belief, I don’t think Legion was an amazing expansion.
The entire Firelands Patch. I love it, and everything about that raid IMO was 10/10. Perfect size, perfect map, perfect encounters, perfect gear sets, and Ragnaros was a crazy fun fight too. Best patch ever released.
Expansion: WOTLK
Boss: OG Gruul
I’m not sure if you want them to be the same, but my favorite expansion is MoP, and my favorite raid is Molten Core. It’s probably because it was my first and only hardcore raiding, but it was fun.
Legion elevator boss
PvE - Legion
PvP - MoP
Raid Boss - Prince @ Kara, I learned I was not melee DPS on that fight and it set me on my path as a healer to this day, my guild likely helped with that decision, you know back when players could tell you that you sucked but without being overly mean about it lol.
Raid Boss 2 - Gruul @ Gruul’s, 2nd raid group was trying to get the boss and our main healer was so drunk she passed out, and had to speak to her daughter, who was in the guild… “Hey can you check on your Mom, we think she’s passed out and log her out please, we need another healer!” LMAO. Fun times for real and we got it, was fun as hell!
Mists was great, you just had to be ok with the theme, which got more Warcraft themed as it went on.
Favorite boss is probably going to Blackhand. My first and only real end tier Mythic kill that was a high end as it was server first, and somewhere in the US30. It was a really well designed fight for various reasons and took us roughly 180 attempts.
The tier was overall just great, had lots of other good fights like Hanz and Franz and Kromog. My favorite raid might go ToT or SoO, not for any specific reason in regards to mechanics of the fights, but because they had a bit of a story to tell as you progressed through the raid rather than just going through and killing stuff. SoO, did this better, but ToT did it as well.
I’ll agree with you on that Varith Blackhand is my 2nd fav raid boss just the mechanics and the area we fought him in was amazing.
There are too many good bosses, but I feel a great modern boss was Sire.
