I was just thinking about dungeons and which ones i loved the most.
My top 3 are:
Zul Farak
Uldaman
Deadmines
I love the feel of each of these dungeons. They all took quite a while to finish and always had the most amazing rewards.
What are your top 3 favorite dungeons and why?
My true fovorite is BRD.
Deadmines for the memories (first char NE rogue)
Maraudon for the atmosphere
Stratholme for the nerd rage
My fovorite dungeon is probably either Deadmines or UBRS.
Any dungeon where someone is willing to do me a fovor and give a port.
I’m not sure about “top 3”, but I always enjoyed Wailing Caverns, especially back in the day. I liked the music and theme, and that it was set in the Barrens, my favorite zone. It made a big impact on me when I first started playing.
My favorite has always been Sunken Temple, I had the entire thing memorized. I was totally crushed when they shrunk it to one floor , grrrrr.
Ah yes, BRD is for sure packed with memories.
Deadmines is my favorite. The quest chain builds from Northshire Abbey, through Goldshire, and level 10 Human class quests, finally reaching Westfall.
Similarly, the Deadmines begins as a mine (connected to the Kobold mines in Northshire and Elwynn), and reveals itself as a vast underground base. Then, finally, the ultimate showdown with the anti-hero Van Cleef, on board a pirate ship in a cave!
Beyond epic.
It’s really hard to say my favorite, but I’ll give special mention to Blackfathom Deeps.
It’s masterfully created; feels like a claustrophobic setting, and I love the flooded sections. Plus exploring the ancient, mysterious Night Elf ruins of the deeps is a cool feeling every time.
Shadowfang Keep - Questing on Horde, always got sent there for class quests.
Blackfathom Deeps - One of the other dungeons ventured into, while questing in Ashenvale.
And it isn’t classic, but the trio of Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron, and Halls of Reflection, for some nice lore, and getting to work side by side with the Dark Lady.
My inner grammar zealot hates you right now for encouraging the OP.
ST, ZF, BRD are all epic tier overall instances
VC and SFK are epic tier ambiance and story
Fine, we can ensure he gets it right…Fevorite! =p
I enjoyed BRD and UBRS
eye twitch
Sunken temple. Trolls, dragons, puzzles, crazy boss mechanics.
Zul’Farrak. Trolls. OUTDOORS (so level 40s+ can glory in their speed boost).
Blackrock Depths. The complexity, this entire industrial complex and civilization all built up by the Dark Iron Dwarves, and the fact that every new group into there could go a different route, work on different bosses, and maybe not even see the same area as we went before.
…
Stratholme (dead) really is right up there with BRD, with the bonus of having such a close tie-in to the WC3 scene with Arthas, Uther, and Jaina. THIS is what Arthas left in his wake is a very real feel. Not in the top three mostly because Straholme (live) always seemed like such an odd misfit by comparison.
EDIT: And now I want to fit in WC. Truly, most of them are favorites, most of them I will love doing again (and again).
ZF stairs event has been an epic that I’ll never forget
BRD Colosseum is a close 2nd
As horde I like the scarlet dungeons. You get to slaughter human enemies similar to the alliance. I imagine coming here as alliance with human vs human isn’t as exciting.
Hard to say what was my “fOvorite” dungeon in Vanilla.
I did like WC, ZF and Strat undead side quite a lot.
But I think in Classic I am going to enjoy BRD the most.
For some reason I did not appreciate it in Vanilla but I have later come to realize that I really should have.
My favourites would have to be;
-
Black Fathom Deeps - I loved the ambiance in that place and it genuinely felt like an adventure going into it.
-
Black Rock Depth, much for the same reason, it felt huge and it felt like a true adventure, almost textbook D&D minus traps and a few other nitpicking things
-
would have to be all of Dire Mual. The entire zone of Feralas was amazing to me, and the separate dugeons only added to the awe imo,
