I didn’t say they were all “un-fun” to play, I said they were “un-fun” to fight. I see a lot of solo tanks in world pvp but most are playing tanks to avoid fights because people don’t want to fight them.
And, I understand why tanks are attractive. I took a couple of years off from the game and came back in WoD. I played tanks so I could relearn the game. That’s because tanks are more forgiving of making mistakes.
I enjoyed playing the tank and winning 1v3s, 1v4s even against gladiator rated opponents but once I was ready to remove those training wheels, I did.
