What are some of your favorite or least favorite character animations? I’d love to see some of them revamped for 10.0
Favorite:
All tauren and human male cast animations - offensive and defensive are good
All orc and human male melee animations
Kul Tiran males holding two-handed weapons with one hand
Draenai Male hunter gun flip - chef’s kiss
Orc male MC Hammer dance moves
Zandalari troll, night elf female and blood elf/void elf male defensive spell animations
Pandaran male laying down - laying on their face is funny
Dislike:
Worgen Male offensive cast and all melee animations - why so much flailing around? What’s with the weird front flip for Death Strike?
Dwarf Male, Human female, and troll male defensive cast animations - it doesn’t even look like you did anything
Kul Tiran Male offensive spells - what’s with the hand swirling dance move?
Male and female night elf and male Zandalari two-handed melee animations. Not a fan of the spin moves
Most liked: my favorite animation was back when undead females did a little flip for certain spells, like Blade Flurry.
Second favorite was back when female draenei would do a twirl during a melee attack. Not sure what spell activated it (or if it’s still around), but I used to enjoy enhance shammy back in WoD because of it. There was good attention made to the footing of such an attack.
Most hated: casters have this weird stance when in an idle ranged attacking position. It’s like they’re trying to look intimidating by spreading out their arms and legs, but when a blood elf or void elf female enter the position it looks like a bunch of sticks were taped together. They’re too small and dainty.
Anti-magic shell especially needs a visual upgrade. It looks like low rez polygonal bowls spinning. It’s looks dated. Even the dingy color of green is dated.
Honestly, all the covenant abilities really made all the class spell effects look ancient and in need of updating.

Absolute shame how these effects are collecting dust they could have been animation variants for existing similar spells (unbound force for arcane missiles).

Most disliked is probably night elf male “migrane beam” casting animation. I kinda get what they were going for but it’s not executed right and just looks silly.
More generally several character models have issues with run animations looking a touch too “noodly”, especially after having played Classic for a bit.

Agree on the nelf male headache animation. I like how it’s executed on Tauren.
Agree on some weird running animations. I dislike how Draenai run. I think the walking looks good, but running is weird.
My most favorite animation is the Lich King’s death animation.
The female Troll / Female Zandalari’s melee attacks look absolutely terrible.
Oh yeah. The Focusing Iris and Life-Binder’s Invocation are super good.
Least favorite: blood elf male 2h animations. What is that stance? What is that swing? Why? Who animated this?
Favorite: female Pandaren melee, all of them.
Blood Elf Mage portal animations. Sometimes great, other times it looks like our spine has just snapped.
I love the subtle smoke effect from the smouldering boot toy, and the frosty breath from that toy. I wish Frost Mages and DKs could see their breath all the time.
Favs:
Pretty much anything with the vulpera. You can tell the folks working on the models / animation were having fun. That stuff just makes me giddy.
Not favs: The combat ready pose for male blood elves. “Oh a cutscene where my character gets ready to fight. better stick my butt out”
Most favorite: Shaman casting animations. Lots of dramatic arm motions. Imo, really imitates drawing power out of the ground and air.
Least favorite: One of the Male Orc melee attacks. It is a straight arm thrust. That may be appropriate if he was using a fencing sword, but looks completely ridiculous with a mace or axe. Ya know, two weapons favored by orcs.
