Fauns open up a few questions to Sargeras and Satyrs

So, original lore states

Satyrs (sometimes pluralized as satyr)[11] are a race of bestial demons usually sworn to the Burning Legion. They are created through the spreading of the ancient satyr curse,[12] an affliction which originated with Xavius, a Highborne sorcerer who was destroyed and remade into a demonic form as a punishment for his failures by Sargeras during the War of the Ancients. Xavius soon began spreading his cursed form to other night elves and eventually to other races as well. In modern times, satyrs mostly live in various sects throughout Kalimdor and exist only to harry their hated night elf cousins and obey the will of the Legion,[13] though others have instead sworn fealty to the Old Gods and work to spread the influence of the Emerald Nightmare.

In short - Sargeras turned Xavius into a Satyr, then he spread curse, it’s a demonic race

Whom looks suspiciously close to Fauns. There’s should be some chain to follow from shadowlands emerald dream part > to emerald dream > to mortal realm

Why would sargeras bother so much?

This isn’t reasonable. They are ā€˜faunesque’, that’s where the similarities end. There is nothing to suggest that Sargeras did anything with the Shadowlands.

Nvm, just saw the author of the post lol

I doubt there’s any relation between the two. I need more than them both being based off of goats, frankly, to suggest a connection between the two.

Especially since the same ā€œthreadsā€ connection the two also connect to draenei.

but if you also tie in a real mythos this based on - fauns and satyrs are exactly same thing with different name in italy and greece

But it’s not tied in to a real mythos. There is no real mythos of cursed night elves who sided with demons, then began serving the void lords.

WoW took inspiration from a variety of sources, then did their own thing with them. WoW satyrs have as much to do with Greek satyrs as WoW’s elves have anything to do with Norse elves.

Real mythos has no basis in WoW besides general inspiration.

Centaurs are Greek, but in WoW are mongolian in culture. Their Greek origin has zero basis on their WoW counterparts save for a general inspiration.

Fauns and Satyrs being different names for the same thing means nothing, Blizz can easily just use them for two seperate things.

(Commentary): It’s possible that when Night Elves die they typically go to Ardenweald and reincarnate as Night Fae. If this is the case, then their demonic form resembling such isn’t really out of the question. As far as speculation goes, it’s not the most unreasonable thing I’ve ever heard. We already know Night Elf souls take on unique forms compared to most (Wisp Form).

Night elves typically become Whisps when they die.

EDIT:

… which you mentioned later in your post. My bad.

(Commentary): To continue from this, we also see wisps in the RTS games reincarnate in various ways as well, such as becoming ancients. I think the wisp form itself may be kind of, ā€˜primed,’ to reincarnation, which would further make them ideal for Ardenweald. If Night Elf souls go to Ardenweald all set to become Night Fae after a short nap in a pod or whatever, then it supports the idea that becoming Fauns is the natural course for a Night Elf’s life cycle.

but mechagnomes don’t speak like that

He does. How he role plays is up to him. If he roleplays as a more mechanical speaking one, that’s his choice to do so.

(Statement): I find it also helps prevent confusion as to the intention of my words. Commentary is largely opinion based, as an example. My two coppers, as it were. A statement tends to be more factually based (or I am presenting what I take to be fact until it is corrected).

(Commentary): I’m making combustible lemons over here. I wanted proper Ulduar style Mechagnomes. I’m working with what I’ve been given.

I always saw a similarity to how Demons reform in the Twisting Nether and how creatures exist that are connected to the Emerald Dream.

I can not make a conclusive link or anything. Just a similarity. They die and respawn and come back. I do wonder where this will lead.

I have posted that perhaps burning Teldrassil will create a gateway of sorts. Teldrassil was the foul creation of an Old God servant that was made against the will of Malfurion. Perhaps the burning of it sends its ā€œsoulā€ into Ardenweld and will attempt to corrupt it down the line.

Maybe it was not Sylvanas’s intention, but she may have played along in the scheme. She even ruminates that surely the Night Elves must know it will burn at some point.

It makes me wonder if this will all be connected.

(Conclusion): You are doing very well, my good sir. Carry on!

The Legion has seemingly recruited various Races from the Shadowlands: Jailers, Gargoyles(Fel Bats as Demons) & Dredgers(Wyrmtongues as Demons) from Revendreth and Mo’arg & Antaen from Maldraxxus to mention the ones I’ve seen.

Demons recruit from everywhere and get ideas from said places: They recruited the Imps, Satyrs and Overfiends from Azeroth if you’ll recall.

Nathrezim(the guys who recruited the Mo’arg and created the Infernals), Void Hounds and Pit Lords(who command the Felhounds) are the only natural Demons in the Twisting Nether.

Yven you have any proof for those aside from them looking kinda similar? Because that’s not evidence.

Specualtion is fine, but asserting that there’s some connection between the Legion and the Shadowlands cause some demons look similiar means absolutely nothing.

The only connection stated is the Dreadlords getting the Helm of Domination from the Maw. There’s no mention of them recruiting anyone.

Only one of those actually confirmed are satyrs.

Imps are specualted to have come from Azeroth, but were never confirmed, so there’s at least room to speculate. Overfiends being from Azeroth is pure speculation.

While they’re probably unrelated - there is another link. The satyrs (including Xavius himself) aligned themselves with the Emerald Nightmare - even arguably moreso than the Legion. We also know that the Emerald Nightmare can afflict Ardenweald.

So the two races could be more connected than we know. Especially if you consider how it seems Sargeras was trying to imitate the Shadowlands.

And sent some Demons(Mo’arg judging from the Mo’arg Model found wearing Maldraxxian armor) who got forcefully conscripted into the Maldraxxian Theater of Pain according to the Maldraxxus Demon Hunter Spell Datamined.

Sargeras’s armies visited the Shadowlands and have been forcefully conscripted by various realms(with the likely Dreadlord Denathrius creating his own realm Revendreth): Torghast even has Inquisitors in the Jailer’s Army using Red Torture Magics only seen used by Mogu and the Man’ari of Hellfire Citadel!
