I just completed the quests by Merithra, Y’Sear’s daughter. When I asked about Y’Sera, Merithra answered in a way that sounds like Y’Sera will never return.
Following the rules of those in touch with the Emerald Dream, if you die, your spirit returns to the Emerald Dream and you are slowly regenerated. We have seen this with Cenarius, and numerous wild gods who fought and died in the War of the Ancients, but returned in Cataclysm. Y’Sera’s spirit was also seen in the Emerald Dream at the end of the Emerald Nightmare raid. Will she return like the other have or is her death permanent?

That would be amazing to have Ysera return to azeroth. But i imagine we would have to remove some sort of void corruption now to save her again.

I was suprised that there was even a glimmer of hope offered - being taken away by tentacles of moonlight in Legion seemed rather final.

Didn’t Elune literally make her a constellation? That cinematic kinda sealed her fate in my eyes. That would be serious retcon-ing to bring her back.

She’s dead. I figure anything we saw in the Emerald Dream was just a remnant she left behind.

Y’sera, like all the other dragons, is mortal. Her death is unfortunately permanent, also we did see Elune take her spirit in a cinematic.

We would have to confront the titans to send her back to Azeroth as a celestial mount or being…
What we saw in the Emerald Nightmare was her echo in the Dream. She’s gone. Elune claimed her soul.

Sargeras claimed the souls of the whole pantheon but they were remade.
The only way i could see her returning is as some kind of avatar of elune. She wouldn’t be herself or have the same physical form, but we know her soul was claimed by elune and elune could probably reincarnate ysera in a new form.

Yes please. But not like the current celestial glitter mounts. I want one that looks like the galaxy wings in D3 or HotS. Much better texture

Folks saying with absolute certainty that she won’t come back don’t realize that this is Blizzard we are talking about.
Death is merely a set back and a future plot point for a return story or, in Illidan’s case, a redemption arc.

Wild Gods are Spirit. Cenarius is a Wild God on his father’s side. His mother is Elune herself. Spirits obey spirit rules, and the Wild Gods enjoy a particular connection with the Emerald Dream.
But Ysera was not a Wild God, nor a creation of Elune. Ysera was a Dragon Aspect, empowered by the Titans. Like all the Dragon Aspects, she sacrificed that empowerment at the end of Cataclysm to end the threat posed by Deathwing forever, ushering in the Age of Mortals.
Dragons are not spirits, but uplifted animals, crafted by the Titans in the Second Ordering of Azeroth from basilisk base-stock. Once her Aspect power was spent in Cataclysm, Ysera was as mortal as any animal, a weakness Xavius knew of and exploited.
When Ysera died in Legion, she truly died. Elune did not resurrect her, but merely designated a constellation in the sky to represent her, as a memorial. Her shade in the Emerald Dream is a memory of her presence there. She’s gone.

I think it’s because the dragon aspects were already weakened from what happened during cataclysm. then after the corruption elune was just like come on home. =/

But wasn’t it Ysera who linked Cenarius to the Emerald Dream?
