Fastest way to get normal flying again?

I didn’t play during Dragonflight, so I never got an explanation on how to do the hyper-flying. While I was leveling I was able to use regular flying, but once I got into TWW content it only had the option for the complicated flying.

How long into the content before I get regular flying back?

Thanks

The “regular flying” gets unlocked by simply finishing the main storyline of each area and exploring all new maps.

So it can take as little as it takes for you to do that. It can be done in less than 2 hours if you focus on it.

All you have to do is complete the leveling campaign and fully explore the map.

The campaign takes like a couple hours tops if you’re speed-running it, and if you can manage to steer dragonriding well enough for at least flying in a straight line then exploration will take like half an hour, if that. If you can’t, you’ll have to explore on the ground which will take longer. Couldn’t say how much longer.

If you were already able to fly you can probably fly normally again but it’s a spell in your spellbook now that lets you choose between the normal flight and the gliding style.

Not in the new expansion areas. It requires the Pathfinder achievement. Even if you could “normal fly” in Org./SW.

I felt like this too but realized after leveling that fancy flying is 705% speed and the regular is just too slow. Id suggest just getting used to it.

This.

When you do regular flying you suddenly realize just how MASSIVE the new maps are. They are just gigantic and designed for dragonriding. It does pay off to learn whatever it is that is holding you back from using it.

everyone obsessed about steady flying should just roll monk.

then you can skyride at the good speed and afk in the air with that monk skill i forgot the name of.

*zen flight

Flying through the old world also really emphasizes it. Blackrock mountain is so close to Stormwind now.

I guess I never really noticed /shrug
It was just a happy accident that I myself realized you can even choose the flying styles so it’s at least helpful to let others know it’s possible.

I watch people zoom past me with fancy-flight turned on and shake my fist at them. Then turn up my beach boys cassette tape, sit back, and relax while I cruise across Hallowfall.

Classic flying is the life.

If you go to the Dragon Isles and got to the Ruby Lifeshrine there’s a guide that will teach you. It’s not long, just a few easy informative quests and you won’t regret it.

If you simply do all the yellow baseball-diamond quests in each zone (and reveal the map in each zone), you will get normal flying back pretty fast. Pretty sure there is separate quest tracking (top of your tracker) for the main quest line too.

As Briselody said, it’s the campaign quests and map exploration. If you need the waypoints (like I did) they can be found on the explore achievements comments on wowhead. That really helped me a lot with the exploration.

Jump on a flying mount and find the skyriding abilities either on your hotbar or in the general tab of your spellbook. Drag down skyward ascent and surge forward and put them in a comfy spot. Smack Skyward ascent and your mount will take off. Pointing your camera up while ascending will cause you to go higher. Point camera down slightly to glide and use surge for a burst of speed. As you get used to things you can add in whirling surge and aerial halt as you gather and unlock glyphs for more vigor.

I wanna dragon ride in zen flight

See you need to replace Beach Boys with some Hard rock or Metal while you blaze across the sky so fast everything and everyone around you is just a blur until you crash land on top some ugly spider monster and smoosh it!
