I’ve posted about this before, but never got an answer(only about Nightborne questline). If you take a look at my profile you will easily notice my disappointing gear. Which of these 3 ways below is the fastest way of gear grinding?
1: benthic grinding
2: mythic+ dungeon grinding(don’t have a mythic+ keystone coz I’m a disappointing character
3: mythic raid grinding
Any other ways of grinding you think are faster I’m all open too.
8.3 content.
Everything is above 410 there.
Well you can always grind WQs -> as your ilvl rises, so do the rewards, the emissary ones I think cap at 445 this season.
Nazjatar world bosses -> Sign up as DPS, let others tank/heal, 415 ilvl.
Mythic dungeons -> You may have some success if you’re the one who starts the group as say, a tank or healer. As long as you’re picky enough about your other members you may be fine (don’t take anyone less than 10 ilvls below what it drops). And then you’ll get a +2 key and you can do the same.
Horrific visions -> 420 gear.
World boss in invasion areas.
Also, don’t underestimate buying an extra reroll token every week and strategically using it on the right world boss by looking at loot tables. The worst parts of your gear are your trinket slots and weapon. Your ilvl will skyrocket if you can get those slots replaced.
I believe there is a better way than the options you list. Do world quests. Do all the quests for gear, for Azerite power, and the emissary. At the same time do 4-5 heroic Island Expeditions for the weekly 3500 Azerite power. It also give you an essence. Do the beginning quests that open Nazjatar and the essences from Mother- very simple, 15 minutes max. Then just grind world quests for a few days. As your neck piece inevitably gets into the 60’s and then 70’s, you’ll find the gear rewards from Kul Tiras and Zandalar to rise from 360ish to 410, and then eventually most will be at 420. Do this for a few days, and you should have a 415-420 item level.
Also, once you hit 400, I’d do the Legendary Cloak chain- its doable at 400, and will give you a 470 item.
World quests for gear and Azerite power are the key.
Just wanted to point out since there is Timewalking instances this week, That you may want to run those as well. Timewalking at Level 120 drops iLevel 425 gear.
Get the cloak quest chain done asap once you hit 120.
You get a few pieces of gear automatically, 440 bracers, 430 azerite of your choice and a potential 3rd from finishing the vale invasion.
Invasion rares can also drop 410 gear tokens.
You also get the 470 cloak at the end, with a follow up quest with another 430 boot or belt reward.
On your way to doing that you’ll do the intro for Nazjatar and the Essence system, snagging some Benthic tokens and a minimum 20 pearls good for upgrading a benthic item to 400.
You get a 370 weapon and a 385 azerite armor of your choice as well.
By the time you finish the cloak quest on a fresh 120 you should be seeing world quests rewarding about as high as they go, 410-420 depending on the quest.
Hitting the new world boss along the way is a chance at 445 gear and you can try for a 415 drop from the world boss in Nazjatar.
Of course Timewalking can also drop 425 items and the vendor offers some 410 gear for badges.
*Note that timewarped vendor gear will not count towards your average item level for world quest and emissary reward scaling.
Also if you head to Hillsbrad the Alterac Valley vendors can offer some 410 items for both timewarped badges and marks of honor, including some weapon choices.
If you have skips unlocked for the cloak chain from previously doing it, you can knock all this out in a couple hours and depending on luck be well on your way to a decent average item level.
This Character hit 120 on Monday, and as of yesterday afternoon was ilevel 399 mostly due to a couple of ~275 rings that I couldn’t seem to replace. Granted her gear is still crap but currently at 431.
Her progression was basically.
-Black empire 410 tokens.
-Legendary/Heart questlines
-Assault weekly from last week, and the new assaults today
-World bosses both Nazjatar and Vale or Uldum
-World quests
-Weapon Cache emissary which I waited until almost the last minute so I’d have as high of ilevel as possible when turned in.
-Equipment cache emissary was up turned in at end of day today to maximize ilevel of reward.
-Ran a number of heroic dungeons to replace the rings mentioned above, changing from 275 rings to 415 rings increased average ilevel by roughly 15.
-Ran heroic visions to upgrade cloak to rank 6 and to get 420 rewards yesterday and today.
I think that’s it, really need to replace helm and chest so I’m hoping for azerite emissaries this week.
Heroic and m0s drop like triple the gear of a m+ and starter azerite or something. Those are pretty decent.
I’m confused why “grind Mythic raids” is on that list. They don’t take just anyone into those things, few guilds are farming Mythic raids and most will probably require 460+ gear to even be considered into a group (to say nothing of experience and performance).
Also Benthic gear is outdated. The rares from Vale and Uldum drop 410 (or 415? I can’t remember) gear designed to help catch players up.
Killing the main boss in a Horrific Vision gets you a 420 piece.
World quests scale up to 420, some caches and emissaries are 445.
But the fastest way is to sell WoW tokens for gold and use said gold to buy BoEs off the Auction House. You can get a lot of decent 445+ pieces for under 100k gold.
Thanks for all the answers guys!
I hit 120 on my Vulpera Brewmaster Monk yesterday.
As of now she’s sitting at iLvl 427. No instances or dungeons.
Hit 120
Immediately equip all of the leather BoA tokens from Invasions (had them in m y bank).
WAIT to start world quests…
Do Nazjatar intro (370 weapon).
Buy a 400 trinket and 400 cloak off AH: 4500g total (get iLvl up).
Do world quests: Got lucky with (2) 420 trinkets and (2) 420 rings.
Used a Benthic 385 helm and upgraded to 405. Was replaced during World Quests with a 420 Blue.
Do Cloak questline. 440 Bracers, 430 Boots and 470 Cloak.
Weapon quest popped up this morning in Drustvar…420 Polearm.
= 427
I would NOT do anything in Nazjatar except the opening quests for the weapon. If you get get your iLvl up enough the world quests are much higher. Cheat it a bit with a trinket and a 400 Cloak (1500g) to get the iLvl up a bit and help you through the main cloak questline.
Just my experience. Good luck!
literally just play the game
