Fastest way to get Anima?

So I just got back to the game a week ago, and have been questing and checking things out. I decided to go with Venthyr, but to complete the covenant campaign, I need to finish a quest that requires Sanctum upgrades. This late into the game, what’s the best way to get Anima? I need like 9k to finish the campaign.

At that point in the game, world quests and world bosses, the latter being the best. As you upgrade your sanctum, the anima rewards increase.

If this is your first time through the storyline, it’s a bit of a slog. Later, one can skip to Zereth Mortis which pretty much rains down anima. If you’re focusing on anima, look for the quests in the various zones that reward anima. You can get a small boost if you upgrade/activate the anima channeler and choose the point that’s in the upper right corner (forget the name). That will give you access to an easy daily chest that rewards anima and sometimes other things.

Go to ZM, run the circuit, if you are able, you can move anima around via a BoA token, if you have a lot on another toon. That guy is by the Flight Master in Oribos.

I’ve progressed far enough to be able to go to ZM, but I haven’t gone yet since I’m still in the Chain of Dominion and covenent questlines.

Is Anima seriously plentiful in ZM? Should I take a detour and head there before I progress my other questlines?

EDIT: this is my first toon in the expac, so unfortunately i don’t have alts that can funnel anything.

Yep. Doing a quick circuit of rares in Korthia can net you a decent amount too.

Kill rares, world boss weekly, weekly path finder, and treasures in ZM.

Well hell, maybe I will head there next. I just started i think Sin (chapter 7 maybe), so it’d be a good time to swap over.

Also, will i continue to earn renown in ZM?

do what the jailer did. loads of anima farmed in like… 2 expansions.

After you hit the world bosses and WQs that give anima, ZM is definitely the way to go. You can kill the rares multiple times and they’ll keep giving anima, too - you can always join a “ZM rares” group and just grind away.

That’s a bit of a relief, thanks all!

I was dreading farming 9k more Anima at the route I was going. My goal was to unlock SL flying, but I think I’ll go for ZM flying first while getting the Anima that i need.

EDIT: ZM campaign missions reward renown, right? I’d still like to max that out, as well.

One thing I have found recently trying to wrap up my covenant collectables is(and I know alot of people don’t like the place) but Torghast if you can get a flawless run and beat the boss in Adamant Vaults at the end it always rewards a amount of anima based on your Layer number, on Layer 11 of all the any wing(aside from Jailors Gauntlet and Twisting Corridors of course) always rewards 14 anima tokens at a value of 35 each adding up to around 490(Upper Reaches seems to be the shortest layer to farm usually 15-18 minutes per run depending on power drops and your base gear level). This is what I have been doing off and on after WQ also to collect some of the transmog from the layer bosses, hope this helps.

Ive only done the tower twice. Can you explain this layer thing a little bit for me? I didn’t mind them, they remind me of D3 GRs, I just never realized they offered anything worthwhile while I’m trying to catch up and get flying lol.

All the wings outside of Jailors Gauntlet and Twisting Corridors have up to 16 Layers when you enter a wing the menu pops up and lets you select a Layer of that wing. The layers unlock as you clear them and once you have you can farm them nonstop if you wish. The main difference each layer is higher the number the more Torments(active debuff effects that range from highter enemy damage to a AOE you need to avoid) and the item level it recommends for you. I think Layer 11 only recommends ilevel 230 and it has 3 torments but if you have unlocked the Box of Many Things(an upgrade tree introduced in I think 9.2) you can upgrade and remove torments from the layers so a 3 torment layer with max upgrade might only have 1 torment active making the process easier. Sorry for the long drawn out explanation but this is Blizzard design for you.
