I’d like to get an alt but I don’t wanna spend a whole month leveling it. Which would you say are the fastest and slowest classes at leveling up?
IMO:
Fastest:
Hunter: No need for self heals, your pet takes (and deals, if playing BM) all the damage while you /afk.
Warlock: Similar to Hunter, spread dots and let the voidwalker finish them off.
Druid: See above, spread dots and aoe or self heal while they die slowly, painfully.
Slowest:
Rogue: Sure stealth is good for avoiding trash and going straight for the quest objective, but the classes above can just kill everything in their path (and get exp in the process) with just an extra minute or two. No AoE until very late.
Warrior: Arms has plenty of AoE but without range you’re not as fast at pulling as the ranged dots.
Shaman: No mobility and instant ranged spells are on a cooldown.
Monk, got mine from 20-110 in about 14 hours of play time.
You just need to be very efficient with your 50% xp buffs, keep warmode on and follow azeroth autopilot.
Windwalker is also super quick in general, you have great mobility in combat to run around tagging things with jade lightning then huge AoE to kill things, and each enemy you kill drops a healing orb, 2-3 orbs = full hp.
Basically as long as you don’t die you’ll heal to full after every pack.
I feel like blood dks/bm monks are very fast levelers. Can take on huge amounts of mobs, do massive aoe damage with lots of mobs near(d&d/bb and keg smash/fire thingy/rushing wind talent thing), self healing, amazing defensive abilities/mechanics.
My only other 120 is a blood dk, they scale great with end game gear but before that the dots are not enough to kill packs efficiently. Really good for WQs once you hit ~ ilvl 350
I’ve heard wonders about monks but something doesn’t click with me and monks, maybe I just suck at that class. I even went through the trial and still couldn’t get the flow of the class.
After monks the fastest is probably balance druid then Spriest, maybe frost mage after that, although frost gets way better at higher levels, you can kill a pack of 20 in a comet storm / ice nova.
Survival hunter might be close but not quite as fast as those.
Cool. Thank you. My mage is 2 alts away to be leveled and I used to play frost, so I was a little worried after hearing all the gripes about mages being nerfed.
I actually leveled the fastest on my rogue because you can dodge horde in WM to get the quests done quick and pop into mob area’s for a easy kill on a kill quest without pulling everything.
I’d take spriest off your list of fast. It might work at low level, but it doesn’t work at high levels. The priest forums have long discussions that advocate leveling as discipline because shadow lacks burst, lacks survivability, and have a super long ramp time.
I have a balance druid and a frost mage at max level in addition to my priest. All I can say is that they are both vastly better at leveling than a priest (but priest leveling is a really low bar to pass).
with the XP currently required, you shouldnt need a month to level up no matter what you choose.
Not dying certainly will speed things up, so paladin and monk are good contenders with lots of durability and self heals.
Agreed, hunter is fast but you have to pay attention.
I put warrior in my fastest group also, but not arms. Fury after level 40 is a highly mobile leveling machine.
I’d say if you know what you’re doing and flexible enough spec-wise they’re all pretty fast. With the exception of priests. I felt every level with my priests.
Blood DKs are pretty fast… round em all up and go to town. But the fastest for leveling probably a Vengeance DH since they skip the first 98 levels and have nice self heals.
For sheer slowness, I would say resto shaman. I tried that and wow it was beyond slow.
