Fast leveling without mob tagging

It’s pretty clear that since 2022, Blizzard has changed how mob tagging works—now you need to deal at least 40% of the damage to get full XP credit. This change basically killed the old fast-leveling methods that relied on mass tagging.

I’m playing a DK tank and have tested a lot of spots during the Beta, but it’s almost impossible to push past 6-7 million XP per hour solo.
Do you guys know any good solo-friendly spots to efficiently farm XP?

Or, realistically speaking, what do you think is currently the most efficient way to level? For example, running LFD until around level 88 and then questing?

Would love to hear what others think—let’s share strategies and ideas!

Wait, your leveling strategy was to tag everything in sight and let someone else finish of the kill for you?

Am I understanding you correctly?

Yes thats their strat.

If people found a spot to grind mobs I don’t think they would talk about it ^^
LFD with a premade might be faster as there is less downtime moreover on your first character that has to level without flying but I think questing as a duo might also be quite good moreover if you can get a couple rares on the way which are worth a lot of xp.

It wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a trick around also saving quests for easy xp once expansion launch, one of the most easy ones to do that would probably be tol’barad ones and whatever daily you can get in your capital or even darkmoon treasures turning on alts.

Wow, that’s loathsome.

Do you know what that word means or are you that invested in how someone levels in WoW mop classic? Or do you think he has people chained up in his basement that he is forcing to kill the mobs for him?

I think it’s scummy to tag mobs and let other people kill them for him.

I’m interested in your explanation as to why this is a respectable behavior.

I don’t think it is respectable or disrespectable. It is a leveling strat for degen gamers. It does not violate TOS. It will not impact me. It will not impact you. Anyone who participates in killing for him is doing of their own volition so…who cares lol

Maybe I’ve misunderstood. I thought the plan was to run out in to the open world, tag every mob you can see, and then retire to an inn while other people harvest your mobs for you, gaining no experience for themselves.

Is this not how this works? Because I can certainly see a party in the exercise which is getting screwed over.

I could be incorrect too - but usually this leveling strat is done in the open world in a place with fast spawning mobs. So the person will tag mobs for 5-6 hours in that spot and his friends grind with him, killing the mobs. They aren’t grouped so only the person tagging gets all the experience. I think it takes advantage of the faster you kill the mobs, the faster they respawn? I don’t know all the details. Maybe it impacts questers.

The people killing the mobs do it to help the person level. They know the strat. They aren’t being screwed over because they know and agree to the terms. It is a gamer strat. I don’t think it has morality or respectability. It just is.

The world first 90 in OG MoP was done this way.

If he’s doing it with a dedicated group of friends that’s one thing.

If he’s tagging mobs in the open world and leaving them for others open world players would definitely affect other players. He’s stealing experience that they had to earn.

Yeah it isn’t a viable strat to have others players kill your mobs for you because you need to kill them fast for them to respawn fast. (as in - players not associated with the leveler at all. The leveler will have a dedicated crew that will kill the mobs for them. They are not strangers/fellow levelers)
