I’m a 27 mage so I haven’t joined a SM group yet. Are most people aoe farming these or going the more traditional pull 1 or 2 at a time route. I haven’t been specing into an aoe build, would it be more beneficial to myself and future groups to go full frost aoe build?
You’d be starting with SM graveyard afaik.
Yes, most groups want mages who will be wanting to Blizzard large packs.
Not really.
As long as you have shatter.
Frost Nova>Flamestrike>CoC is awsome AoE
Imp Blizzard is nice too w/ the slow considering you won’t be able to burst down the pack until a couple of Nova’s have been laid out.
But yes, this strat works very well w/ casters. Considering I have to drink every 2 pulls anyways, it makes sense to only have 10 pulls versus 50 in the instance. Went just as fast w/o a tank too.
Isnt it a bit ironic that in less than a week an aoe dungeon meta evolved?
I thought that was hated thing from retail?
Yep, it’s pretty sad this is where we are…
Definitely not. Retail’s problem isn’t about AoE farming, it’s about catch-up mechanics, sharding, LFG instant-ports to dungeons and raids, multi-tiered difficulty of dungeons and raids, and useless “progression” based on many layers of RNG resembling gambling.
Those are the core issues with retail.
Though the RPG element has been siphoned off which is horrid. All classes are almost perfectly balanced by being homogenized. Terrible. No real class flavor.
It’s ok to pull one or two packs at a time but it’s less efficient than the meta, which will pull 3-5 packs and aoe.
I personally do a slow run for quests and then once they are done I go into meta groups that chain pull and aoe for xp/boss loot.
Its honestly mind numbing. Its so boring, and enjoy questing a whole lot more.
The FOMO is strong though, and its pushing people into these runs where they are not happy.
If you join any group, doesn’t even matter if you’re aoe farmibv or not, usually people expect a mage to have imp blizzard because it’s just so good.
No, idk about you but plenty of mages I knew ran people through dungeons to speed level them.
Melee and Spell cleave teams were being tested during the stress tests and beta.
People saw with the right group comps classes like war and rogue were getting xp comparable to a solo hunter on a per hour basis.
Voila. This new meta was born.
…if people want to quest, then they can do that. Literally nobody is forcing them to AoE dungeon grind. What is this FOMO in a 15 year old game that was re-released? Everything has been done before.
Also, I spent quite a bit of time AoE farming back in the day; this isn’t some new and novel thing
