Can you not do this anymore?
I haven’t played in a while but I tried doing Ulduar and Throne of Thunder and it was saving my progress across both N/H and 10 or 25. Unless I’m doing something wrong that means each raid is one shot per character?
And as far as things like mounts and the enchanting illusions is there any difference in drop chance between difficulties? The values on wowhead don’t really make sense and I don’t know if the info I’ve read about this is out dated or not.
Loot drops might be different. One of the Auchindown dungeons, in Heroic mode, has the raven boss that drops the Raven Lord, but the normal version doesn’t spawn that boss.
For Heroic-25 raids, I think the progress saves for all the lower difficulties. Probably to prevent players from having multiple tries for the same boss/drop per week on the same toon.
If I remember rightly, Ulduar got mushed together into one a long time ago. So even though the journal distinguishes between 10 and 25, you can actually get any loot on 25.

So just to be clear I’m not gimping my chances for either Clutch of Ji-Kun from Throne or the Blood Draining Illusion from Ulduar if I just set to Normal 10 every week rather than Heroic 25?
No. That’s how I farmed the Astral Cloud Serpent, Clutches and the direhorn that’s name is escaping me.
