What are the chances we could have a battle pet or two with a false swipe ability?
100% since we already do! It’s called Weaking Blow, though only a very select few pets actually have it. Terrible Turnip is the OG one.
Thank you very much.
The easiest one for you to acquire might be Stemmins, from Shadowlands.
Don’t forget about Superbark, on cooldown but the damage is big. Grumpy is easy to get (if a little bittersweet) as it’s from an item that you find in Val’sharah, and you can deal even more damage when preceded with Howl, while the protective effect is all the same. ![]()
Thank you, I will look that up.
I am not an expert at battle pets, but I really enjoy them.
Yeah, the only drawback of sunflower is it takes a lot of time to subdue a healing opponent.
Grumpy, by the way, is a very good choice. Because Superbark will drop most opponents to the capturable phase if you use Howl first, then Superbark. (And this pairing will still not lower a pet’s health to below one point. Howl will increase the damage of Superbark, but it still will not lower a target’s health below one point.)
In general, the strat is to use your first slot ability: Bark or Bite. I would use Bark. It does slightly less damage, but it reduces the damage of your opponent’s next attack by 25%. Then Howl, then Superbark. In most cases, your opponent will be down to one point. And best of all, since most heals are small, it will still be in the capturable phase next round, even if it heals itself.
And the nice thing about Grumpy, also, is that he’s easy to get. You rush into a burning house and rescue him. He’s on the second floor of a two-story house. You get Grumpy’s Leash as a reward. Click on it, and Grumpy is now in your pet journal.
Easy. Easier than “Just add water.” You should be done in less than a minute.
You can also do this easy, one-minute quest on alts, so you can have additional Grumpys in reserve if you need.
There’s a bunch of easy to get pets for it.
Grumpy (quick treasure), Scraps (cheap on AH, or you can hunt him in certain treasures), Lord Woofington (Island expeditions, or via AH), Terrible Turnip (usually cheap on AH, world drop in Pandaria).
Any of them work really, especially when you’re just starting.
Personally, My catching team is Lord Woofington and Miloh. They are both power breeds so they hit hard. Both have Howl to make Superbark hit even harder.
Miloh costs 2500 Pet Charms, but can be bought on the AH, prices will vary per server due to 2500 charms (sits around 200k via undermine). Lord Woofington is from Island Expeditions, and can usually be bought pretty dang cheap on the AH as well. (Sits around 3-5k according to Undermine)
To round it out, I use an Emerald Proto-Whelp, because it pretty much can’t die on wild pets if you know what you’re doing, and sometimes you need to do something like that when the barkers die lol.
I trust he’s pretty sturdy?
He’s H/P, and a Beast pet. Stats are H:1628 P:289 S:244
If you’ve played for a while, you may have a Molten Corgi.
Nope, looks like I was on hiatus for that.
I like the play on words, though.
Now if only wild pets could be hard coded to never use self destruct abilities…
…It would make collecting mechanical pets in Mechagon easier.
