False reporting and automated ban

No because it is a private venue with rules and standards that you agreed to.

even a very large portion of the medical field will be replaced by bots and robots within the next 35 years.

Replace a nurseā€¦with a robotā€¦

Heā€™s actually agreeing with the premise of the thread that the Blizzard sanctioned DDOS / Mob rule is not a good idea for a civilized society like Classic WoW.

Defending your self I agree is good, but forming a posse to DDOS and or silence some one you disagree with is just a bad situation waiting to happen; but thatā€™s merely my opinion.

Overall It appears that Xecks agrees, at least thatā€™s what his point of view has been from my reading of it though the long and storied history of this thread.

aye thats about the long and short of it.

auto squelch , for any benifits it does have , is a net bad. in classic doubly so.

Hey man. It could happen. Maybe not in our lifetime, but maybe someday that utopia future where robots do everything for us and we just sit on our butts playing video games all day will happen. Or maybe not with all this news about a possible nuclear war. lol

Not an argument, point it out.

Thank you for the bumpy

Still waiting, otherwise youā€™re simply a troll.

Oh for cryinā€™ out loud, here we go.

Butā€¦ while Iā€™m here. Right click report/squelchā€¦

You know what? Nevermind.

Sorry I donā€™t entertain hostility and disrespect / disingenuous posters like yourself.

Point it out.

I used to like your posts but youā€™ve taken on this really negative, doom and gloom persona. Iā€™m not worried about the auto-squelch and Iā€™ll prove it when Classic launches by telling everyone on this forum my character name and server.

Iā€™m not a paranoid person, Iā€™m confident that the auto-squelch will not be widely abused. If by some miraculous chance it is, itā€™ll either be disabled, changed or Blizzard will bring the hammer down on the abusers and the abuse will virtually disappear.

ya if it is abused as widely as it could be, they will probably lock down on it. i just feel like it will take a while even then to reach that point.

ive been around these forums for a long time and other various classic forums. believe me when i say the caliber of people we are going to get for a good portion of the playerbase are people who will abuse this system.

im not trying to be doom and gloom. im just stating what i believe the facts will be.

even if it wasnt something being abused i would be against it. players being able to affect other players in this way is just a bad idea.

I canā€™t say I think itā€™s the most popular opinion but I donā€™t really see a problem with right-click report. I donā€™t want sharding. I donā€™t really want changes that have a direct impact on game-play experience.

But I really donā€™t see the big deal with right-clicking someoneā€™s name for being racist or stupid in trade chat or general chat.

Thereā€™s almost no difference other then convenience of right-click report and be going to the bottom right corner of the screen, hitting the help button, and submitting a ticket for a social report.

So I really donā€™t see the big deal.

Full disclosure I am not a closed-minded idiot I just donā€™t understand the problem with it - I see it as a good thing but if thereā€™s a good reason itā€™s a bad thing Iā€™m all ears and would be the first one to essentially say ā€œHuh youā€™re rightā€¦ That makes sense. F that noise.ā€

Would you rather left click report to help mute goldsellers or the wow token? I donā€™t want both to be clear but I imagine that is the main reason they would keep it in

If you ignore someone, theyā€™re automatically muted to you. It doesnā€™t require a squelch.

Itā€™s not the luxury of the right click to report thatā€™s the problem at all. That part is a fine addition to the UI.

The problem many are pointing out is the part where 10 people can click to report and this action will both mute that player from communications in game chat as well as DC them to make that change to their account.

The DC is extremely powerful VS an enemy, and it will be abused because itā€™s a legal way to DDOS a player that doesnā€™t get you a prison sentence.

Not even kidding about DDOS being a prison sentence either.

Thatā€™s the part were objecting too, not the UI ease of use.

Except , a) we dont know if that number actually triggered it or not
b) that the DC does not happen everytime

Is that true? That wouldnā€™t make any sense to me if it was. :open_mouth:
Are some accounts just able to have their permissions altered without doing a reset?
