False advertising PvP is dead

And this is the problem . This type of mindset … thinking PvP in a PvP server is griefing

I mean I love to gank allies in calssic. Every ally is KoS to me.

I agree. Ganking was part of the experience, but things such as the Serenity Now funeral raid in Winterspring really defined WPvP. It was a time when there were guild rivals and guild wars because of gasp HOW CLOSE KNIT the community was. And what was it all really for, in a time when people didn’t just come in to do a few M+ runs or raids every week and then onto the next reset?

What are you personally doing to help build a close knit community in classic?

Had to look it up

Man that is what I had envisioned PvP in a PvP server

Sadly it’s not that more like single outsider duels or 5v5 small fights

Its pretty annoying that entangling roots is 20 seconds and sheep is 35-45 seconds : /

Wait till more people level.

I am holding hope for that in the meantime rerolled on Skerm alliance now to find a new havoc group

I shoulda specified earlier my “duels” against the hunter were 1v1s to the death lol… Just had a bunch more great 1v1s in ashenvale that turned into a 8v9. Hella good time.

Also you say 5v5s like they are a bad thing? You know that’s what wpvp was mostly before lfg became a thing right? That’s how you get rivalries going. Not massive 40v40 lfg raids… I assure you PvP is alive and well in classic.

Gratz on 60 btw! Kinda wish on grobbulus. My buddies were impatient with the wait times (even though I told them people would quit ). Ended up on a deader server. Still a blast though. Some random 40 warlock stopped by and gave me and my bro 4 giant bags each (you know 12s are massive at this level :joy:) lol… Like what?

Didn’t mean it to come out that way. And I can see how it sounds like it

My issue with 5v5 is that as a havoc group that usually means an easy win for us . Id like for say 10v 15 … on there favor

Similar to say GW2 (boooo)

You have your roaming zergs always creating a danger and your team picking them off

Also I do remember that fights start off as say you kill a “quester” he calls his guildmates and a rivarly is created

But now it’s you kill a quester he calls for help … help gets busted up and they log off

Nothing really, because I have a level 9 troll hunter that’s shelved until I’m ready to take the tour in earnest.

PvP happened on a PvP server, did it not? And oh my, all that salt you’ve seen in the forums at the time. At least we know that didn’t change.

The controversy is that it disgraced the memory of a player who passed away, despite that she would have loved to see such an epic moment in WPvP transpire.

Rivalries take time to form. I doubt the first few months of vanilla had these awesome experiences you are expecting right off the bat. Right now I’m just keeping a top secret kill on sight list of enemies who ganked me from the safe position of being 10 or more levels above me. This is the build up stage. There’s no reason to expect the big battles to be daily occurrences yet.

Yep I’m running spy addon and right click add to kill on sight. Whenever I come across them again the alert I get is like blood in the water.

not sure were this is coming from

That’s addressing the controversy of the event. Even in RP-PvP, that would have quote-on-quote broke protocol, but still: if it’s a PvP server, it’s a PvP server. RP or Normal, it doesn’t matter!

Well large scale world pvp isn’t exactly glamorous. The side that loses is basically SOL and is going to be camped or forced to flee, unlikely to regroup. Trying to reform after defeat is tedious at best.

IMO the reason tauren mill vs southshore worked so well is that towns allowed for easy resets to the losing side when they got pushed back. Way more fun when you can get right back into it and don’t have rely on some kind of cross faction agreement in circumstances where there isn’t a fallback zone.

WPvP in the cities isn’t likewise glamorous, and I’m the Fergie of the urbane. It’s still a 5 min recovery time when you die in Stormwind, or 2-4 minutes in IF or Darn. I’m not too eager to try and see what SW City hunting is going to be like in Classic.

But if either faction got a GY that was much closer to the cities, it would encourage more urbane WPvP activity.

Your opinion that I disagree with

World PvP is very glamorous. It creates tension and a sense of danger

From cutting off routes to well traveled locations to pve infested mindsets thinking they are just going waltz inside Blackrock with out a fight

The reward of using organizational skills with influence to raid a city successfully

Basically the online version of a block party

I’m not sure how it is on other servers, but it seems Grobbulus has pretty frequent PvP.

That’s what I envisioned. Now I am just a bit tilted to go back for now

Atm with work and progression stuff with arena I feel I don’t have the bandwidth

I hope classic does grow into a real PvP realm maybe even a classic battlegrounds tourney 5v5 with prize money and all
