Solution: How I got through this quest: After I fell down the first time and got locked down below. I took off all my gear and continually jumped from the highest point of the stairs down until I died and was resurrected back up top. Kill the boss standing on the elevator off to the side and avoid crossing over it until you come back from activating the elevator. Send the elevator to the 3rd floor, bring it back to the 1st and then you can safely stand on it. What a load of infuriating garbage, please fix this bug or at least open the god forsaken door so we can just -walk back up-.
