As Sanctum has opened, I’m starting to raid but was looking over my logs and comparing them to other UHDKs and noticed that my proc rate for fallen crusader is about 31% lower than the top DK (I used the compare feature so the fight was the same length). I am a relatively new to DK and was wondering if there was anyone who could tell me why this might be I would appreciate it very much.
(he did get PI whereas I did not so that was one reason I was thinking but 33% for 2 PI casts seems high to me. He also had a higher melee uptime, but only 17% higher–obviously being half of the uptime he had over me.)
What’s your difference in haste? The proc is hasted so if he had much higher, you’d expect more procs.

Attacking the front or sides instead of the back? I know that seems pretty basic for melee, but I see melee jumping around just swinging all the time. Your autos can be avoided if attacking from the side or front which can lead to a difference.
likely comes down to varying haste levels and uptime on target.

This post makes me wonder if Haste is valued not just for Unholy Dks.

Forgive my ignorance but I don’t understand what you mean
Which part?
Hasted procs; compare your haste level with other DKs because Fallen crusader is affected by haste. I believe it’s 2PPM (expect about 2 procs per minute of combat) and you can multiply it by 1+haste%. If you had 20% haste 2 *1.2= 2.4 procs per minute.
Uptime, check your active DPS %, It procs from your attacks so if your actively DPSing for 85% of the fight vs 95% of the fight (due to running out for mechanics) can make a difference.
In addition, if you not hitting the target from behind the mobs can parry your attacks, parried attacks cannot tigger fallen crusader.
hope this cleared things up a bit.
Ppm as a proc is different. So if its an actual ppm proc type then 2 ppm gives you a % per auto attack. Haste doesnt directly increase the proc chance, but increases the number of auto attacks which means more chances to proc it.
That is if its ppm and not rppm.
Pretty sure he was talking to the warlock.
No, Fulmdk got it.
I just didn’t bother explaining since the context is obvious.
Sorry, Vodkabyob.
Thanks everyone, I appreciate the input. I’ve been running CS so I can maintain uptime with certain mechs (like soulrender dodging, painsmith balls, the eye movement but I think it is training bad habits because I won’t realize when im barely out of melee range for ~2-3 GCDS. Oh well, guess that’s where I try to improve.
