are fake achievement generator scripts bannable or?
They’ve been around for ages and I’ve never heard of anyone banned for it. Quite awhile ago there was a Blizzard post stating that it isn’t something they consider an exploit.

Correct it doesn’t actually GIVE them the achievement, simply makes a fake link for it.

His REASONING is that people who want to abuse something often want to know what the risks or consequences of abusing that thing are. He makes sense.
There is an alternative where YOU were “abused” with it and want to know if you can get the person punished. Given your responses in this thread I’d say it’s more likely the later.
I think i can picture what happened here. You were selling AOTC and recruited a few pugs to fill gaps in your ranks. You insisted they had to already have AOTC or pay to get it. Someone linked you AOTC and then got it after the boss died. Most likely what ACTUALLY happened there is it was someones alt who DID have AOTC from their main, but got it again on that alt. Faking achievements is so 2019.
It predates this version of the forums but if it wasn’t legal, Blizzard would have broken it in the API by now, and Curseforge wouldn’t still be carrying the addon after almost a decade.
He doth protest too much etc etc.
Getting hyper defensive about a comment that you had to know would be made is a strange play dog.

“Link your achievement” is a player-made requirement. Blizzard is pretty hands off on that kind of thing.

OP, do you think lying to people is OK ?
Most people who ask, “Is [x] bannable?” are doing that thing.
Or they’re hoping someone that tricked them gets banned.

I would say players who start these threads feeling that way are by far a minority. I recall many threads “I’m doing [x], can I get banned for this?” And in fact OP worded it so it could well have been him using the script.
Most players who want what you say would be writing, “I saw somebody else doing [x], can I get him banned?”
You know what addon i want to see? an addon that you get to create your own custom fake achievement. 
I’m gonna be honest if a pug got in your raid and got a free AOTC and you didn’t even notice that they seem bad then it sounds like they did fine to me lol.
Why would they ban you for it? They don’t actually give you the achievements. If someone wanted you to link an achievement, you link a fake one, and they invite you but get upset, it’s on them, not on Blizzard or the addon. This addon only shows out lazy people, it doesn’t actually harm the game.
