Failing torghast

With SL coming, I’m curious of what happens if you fail Torghast? I was looking at the soul ash rewards, and it seems we get max soul ash for completing layer 8. I understand we have to do each layer the first time to unlock up to layer 8. So, if I’m on layer 6 and I run out of lives and die, can i just jump right in and try again unlimited amount of times? Also, just out of curiousity, there isn’t some sort of lockout that prohibits me from running these layers with friends if I’ve already collected my soul ash is there? thanks.

You lose all you got if you fail. Same way you lose all your currency if you overstay your visit in the maw zone and get killed by the invincible mob. And there’s a weekly cap you can get from torghast weekly.

can you go into a little more detail? lose what? soul ash? i lose soul ash ive collected during the layer? or all soul ash ive collected from layer 1 thorugh 3 but i fail on layer 4?

Yes you lose soul ash and everything pretty much then gotta try again. Consider it Dark Souls, you die you lose souls.

only the soul ash from that layer. ok. thats cool. i can try over and over until my eyes bleed?

Till you hit the weekly cap then no reason to re-run unless you wanna try for the infinite floors(actually 188 floors) for mount and other rewards - toys/titles/ect.

awesome. this is great news. tyvm.

There was a vod linked yesterday and half way through it showed that certain spells were a must to be able to pass higher levels,

That is a worry to think not every character will have a fair chance.

wow, this will be very dissapointing. sounds like it will be sorta the same as visions. certain specs had a much easier time pushing visions than others. i guess that is to be expected to a certain extent but it wont be fun.

either way, im just really glad i can keep trying over and over until i succeed instead of the way visions were set up.

Don’t want to spread bad news, it was just my thought and feel everyone should look at it as openly as they see fit.

/I can find the thread if you need.

Isn’t this thing full of temporary power boosts and other 'borrowed power ’ we can’t take with us when we leave?

It will definitely be like Visions, however, every class should be able to get through it even if you have to swap to a different spec. The way conduits are working, it shouldn’t be a problem if that’s the only reason you’re doing it. You might not be optimal, but it’ll still make it easier.

If you complete layer one, you’ll get a chunk of soul ash and that’s yours, in your currency tab. If you then do layer 2, it will give you the next amount of soul ash. If you fail layer 3, you don’t lose anything, you just go in and try again, but you don’t get the soul ash for layer 3 until you pass it (all 6 floors), and then you can move on to layer 3. Max rewards is at layer 8. After completing layer 8, every week you only have to do layer 8 to get max rewards every week, you won’t have to keep reclearing the earlier layers. From the difficulty that I’m seeing, there’s a good chance a lot of people won’t be able to clear layer 8 for the first several weeks, so just clear as high as you can. You shouldn’t be TOO far behind everyone else if you can’t.

Hope that helps.

Yes, much like how visions had the tech tree that only worked in visions.
