This has to be one of the worst drawbacks of any profession. Why is it a thing? TWW Wild Experimentation costs 20 mats, that you just lose when you fail. It’s way too common and as someone who has limited play time and farms my own mats, it’s such a colossal waste.
I can’t be alone in thinking this?!
Edit: Not to mention, you need to burn mats for Coreway Catalyst WHICH YOU ALSO LOSE on a failed experiment. Such a terrible design.

engineering has the same problems

Use the guaranteed one. Or use the bravery potion that will let you keep experimenting.
Honestly, I think the bravery potion is almost worst.
It doesn’t improve the chance, just stops an explosion.
I once bought like 200 to do wild experimentation - I got ONE new recipe.
Unless you VERY determined to get it, I think it’s better to just use the daily one.
Agreed - also have an engineer and just don’t understand the chance to fail things. Imagine failing making weavercloth or something as tailoring but it also costs 6x to make. Just don’t see the point. Professions are already near impossible to max out as a casual player.

I tried professions back around Cat time. I felt that the worst part was how when you get to a higher level on any item, and it turns green, your failure rate increased. That is 100% counter intuitive.
If they allowed something in the next higher level then fine but often they didn’t. You would have to get to some number, like 100 and you would be stuck in the high 80s crawling along with failure after failure.
It pretty much drove me away from professions.
Make sure youre switching up ingredients once youve learned all the ones related to an herb. If youve maxxed an herb out itll just auto fail until you switch by design. So you can target recipes earlier but no more grinding out with just the cheapest herb.
Losing the reagents it the most difficult/annoying part, even if I can keep going
Eh, I just used Mycobloom on the free success, don’t take too long to learn everything and super cheap
Ed and Al Elric probably agree.

Alchemy discoveries were one of the worst profession ideas in Dragonflight.
So nice to see Blizz double down on a bad idea by giving it to Engineering, too

Agreed. I still try to do alchemy because thats what this character has done since vanilla… it is the friggin worst. I can’t believe it is truly truly this bad. I mean wtf… all the other professions are off and away making money… alchemy is jammed up behind RNG.
At this point, Alchemy and Engineering should get married and go be goths together…
